Morning Elite  it's a lovely sunny day today
I've been reading Allen Carr's 'Easy Way to Stop Smoking', that man talks so much sense. I'm hoping to read the last of it by this evening so that I can smoke my last cigarette.
One of the things that's been a bit of a revelation to me is that I can take all the nicotine replacement in the world, but it does not get rid of the physical withdraws. I thought it was because I was addicted to some other chemical in the cigarette but really, it's not physical withdrawal - it's fear and insecurity that I can't have a fag
Probably not very interesting, but thought I'd share it anyway
Off to read what I missed out on yesterday
I quit over 13 years ago with the aid of this book and I feel that he is correct in that it IS the fear and insecurity that you smoke.
I found that the first bit of stress/unhappiness I was reaching for the ciggie packet, but that fades eventually it's more like missing an old friend that you turned to but they are not around anymore.
You sound as if you can't wait to stop:jI know he says smoke while you're reading it but I quit before that I didn't see the point of waiting (I was smoking nearly 40 a day by the way) but each to their own>
I know if I can do it everyone can:) I never used replacement stuff either because to me that just made it worse.
Hope you find it easier and :T on stopping.0 -

I read this book many years ago ,
and though everything he say's
is correct about smokers
it didn't stop me smoking
I have tried all sorts over the years
from acupuncture to champix
but I got a fruit flavoured e-cig
with no nicotine in it
and I found that gave me the
confidence that I could sit and relax
and have a puff
and relaxing breathing in and out
when you are having a ciggie
but the book and the fear of not having
a ciggie is correct
I found being able to puff away on that e- cigg
was the aid I needed to get through it
and that awful cough I had for years and years
went away in a week
and after the first 2 days were over I knew I was going to be a non smoker and that spurred me on
and the need and wanting one soon goes
so give it a go and if you fail you try again
I am amazed that I smoked for over 40 years
at the freedom of being a non smoker
no wondering " Where I Can SMOKE "
It really is down to something that just
CLICKS
INTO YOUR HEAD
THAT YOU DONT NEED THEM
NOR WANT THEM
ANYMORE
So good luck and if at first you don't succeed then
try and try again
You will get there
and the road is not half ,quarter as bad as you
think its going to be
Good Luck0 -
Well just finishing a mammoth cooking session for the freezer. I have made:
*4 lasagnes (dolmio & lidl mince)
*chilli - enough for 3 meals (lidl mince -still using parioli tomatoes & 5 beans)
*2 big quiches in the oven - still using up glitchy cheese from last year (also have jacket pots in oven at same time)
*2 minces ready just to add dumplings (lidl mince)
*2 lamb casseroles (woopsied lamb).
*2 turkey curry (lidl turkey)
Love my electric pressure cooker. Makes it so much faster. This will keep us going for a few weeks. Going to sit in the garden with a coffee now.0 -
my cc from Tosco was a bit of a let down.
1st the Kleenex. only one discount on the receipt. they must have done a store override as its still showing 2 discounts on line. but after cb £5 is still a very good price for 10 boxes.
now onto to coke. they very kindly subbed the 10 packs for 8 packs and charged me the same. they were on offer two for £5. he said I did not lose out as they matched the b1g1f £4 offer.
took me 5 mins to explain to him that I had lost out on 2 cans per pack so I was worse off.
I had to really spell it out. I said put it this way. I got 8 packs, you charged the same price but you gave me 64 single cans instead of 80 so he agreed to refund £4.
all in all happy with out come but it was not as smooth as I would have liked.0 -

Bubbs, thank you for bringing over the argos fabric drawer sets for £14.99. :money:
They are not bad for the price to keep things tidy but certainly not worth the £49.99 RRP.
I picked them up on the way to see DD1 on Thursday as I had to pass Argos on my way. Not very MSE the added weight in the car though.
The white framed one we haven't opened yet but it is 6.5kg net weight as opposed to 3.9 kg for the natural one, I hadn't noticed when ordering.0 -
