My gym don't do Insanity classes (yet) but the bloke who does Body Pump and Body Combat and Metafit runs courses in different gyms/centres locally. He's really pushing them at the moment and will probably try it. I'm doing his metafit (20 mins) and managing it but really think I'll struggle with a 50 min Insanity lesson. It's not helped by him and all the people who do the class papping on on Facebook about how hard it is.

Also, it means forking out another £5 for a class whereas all my other classes at the gym are included.

  • Main problem I found is because you can go "any time", you can easily slip to "i'll go later" and end up not going at all.

For me, setting a SPECIFIC time each day / week works. I know I have to do it then so I do it. Like having an appointment. You work your "other stuff" around it.
    Well, good luck!
    Friendly greeting!

Id stick with metafit to be honest. HIIT classes dont need to be 50 mins long. The insanity class I did was 30 mins long, I came out realising why I liked metafit. I didnt like the way the class was structured, some of the exercises were very jumpy and just ridiculous as far as I was concerned, plus theres no audio telling you what exercise is coming next, the instructor cues the next one while you are doing the previous one, the instructor at the gym I went to is a fabulous instructor, but it didnt stop the class from being a hot mess in my opinion. Also, anyone can train. I know the instructor you'd be going to is qualified, but Insanity have no restrictions on who can do the training, you dont need to be fitness qualified and when I did the class my views were there's no way Id want to be doing any of these exercises with someone who had no fitness knowledge.

I think its just a load of old hype and Ive met a few people whove done Insanity who feel the same. Some people are charging £5 in the area I live in and most classes are £3 up here, I wouldnt pay the fiver, in the same way that Im not going to pay £6 to do boogie bounce classes either.

£3 for a class?! It used to cost me £7 a time to go to Zumba where I live! :rotfl:

Luckily all the classes at the gym I just signed up to a free!

Had my induction yesterday afternoon, paying for it today. I ache all over! I've had inductions previously and they show you where everything is and how everything works etc. This guy took me and another new starter and gave us a 40 min workout!

I'm finding it hard to move my legs now, but I can feel that it's given me more energy already! :)

I've got a free personal training session to use, so I might use him again (although I did catch him helping me, but staring at some girls bum next to us! :p)

Today I should probably rest, but I feel like I'll give up if I don't go...

    Thanks Pauline.

This instructor is qualified to the hilt, and very, very good. His classes are packed out and difficult to get onto. He knows his stuff. I'm not sure where I got the 50 mins from, I might be wrong.

I did think that about the hype, to be honest, and am a bit skeptical. I think I'll give it a go, just to say I've tried it.

Take it easy and don't push yourself too hard, or you'll get fed up of it.

Useles without a RM PTI to make sure you do the exercises properly TBH. You could get a fitness program from a MOD site for nothing though.

Also there is no such thing as Royal Marines Army Fitness so you may have been had for your 20p.

    Hahaha! I wish! ;)

Who actually looks good working out? I'm a sweaty mess within a few mins! An old housemate of mine used to put make up on just to go to the gym!

I was thinking of going today after work, just to keep myself going. I was tempted by a class called "Body Shocker" but my legs are in no way up to it after yesterday!

The PT told me not to attempt any weights for now as I'm in really bad shape :doh:Anyone got some suggestions for beginners workouts at the gym?
