Hey all, I've had a couple of productive days getting somethings set straight after I noticed a payment going out my account.

Basically when I was in such debt I'd never log into my online banking as I hated seeing what was going on (I'm sure I'm not the only one who avoids looking at the balance :) )

I hadn't noticed that I'd been paying CPW £40.95 quarterly since May 2013. Sure I knew I was paying it before then, buts thats when I had a contract phone with them. Back in May I changed my phone and I went with o2 direct rather than through them. While getting the phone they advised me to cancel the insurance I was paying with CPW as it wouldn't cover my new phone. I left the o2 store, went to CPW and explained. They were fine about it and canceled it for me.... so I thought. I went back to o2, took out the phone and took out the insurance £10 a month with them. Sorted.

Now last week I'd noticed that I had this payment to CPW (as I'm not not afraid to look at my money) so I called them up, explained this should have been canceled last year. I was advised to email proof I upgraded with another company and no longer used the insurance. After a couple days and emailing back and forth, they've accepted I shouldn't have been paying and that it was an error from them and that they would refund 6 payments totalling £245. - Happy me!

I also noticed that when logging into my bank that one of my current account benefits is mobile phone insurance! So I've registered my phone through that, called up o2 and canceled the insurance with them also! Getting quite savvy at this! haha.

I'm going to use the £245 to put towards paying Sunny back so it'll be one step closer to clearing that balance!

Good news all round and couldn't be happier!!
  • You have totally nailed this debt clearing. Well done.

thanks in need of direction. I feel like I have. Although the tricky time of the year is coming up now. Harder to plan for I guess, more things happening than you expect. I find it hard to say no haha.

Still waiting on payment from CPW. Called them up and they said it would take between 7 and 10 working days. Annoying when they take your money there and then, but if you want it back? Oh you can wait a couple weeks then!

    Wonga - £0
Hi all, my most recent payday has been and gone and I've made the very annoyingly important payments to said debt companies. Here's how my balances stand as of now...

    Mum and Dad - £0
    Peachy - £0
    Satsuma Loans - £0
    Piggy Bank - £0
    Sunny - £139.65
    Payday UK - £289.75
    P2P - £614.13
    Lending Stream - £1,040
    Quick Quid - £1,047.04

    Total debt £3,130.57

It's not come down as much this month as the extra money in which I'm not paying on previous loans like Wonga/Piggy Bank etc I'm holding on to for now. With Xmas coming up and the travelling costs to see my DD with presents to buy etc I don't want to be left short. This isn't to say I won't make over payments on these accounts but maybe at a later date as I get closer to my next payday.

Hope everyone's well, lets keep smashing our debts!!
  • It's still coming down. Hope you get some good festivities with dd

Thanks direction. You are right, it's coming down and that's the main thing. It's going to cost quite a bit to see her over Xmas so I'm trying to budget for that so I don't get caught short. Hope you're well.
