I think you are very wise to keep the CSA out of it, however it would not hurt to give them a call and find out what you should actually be paying (taking into account the travelling expenses) this would give you a starting point of what is fair when you talk it through. As she is being fair to you now whilst you sort yourself out it would be a nice gesture for you to pay slightly more for an agreed period once you are in a position to do, as a kind of back payment.

Well done on taking control of your finances. In addition to selling things on ebay, have you thought about signing up for survey sites as well? They often need men to make the surveys statistically valid, so I would imagine you would get quite alot. It won't earn you hundreds, but it would be a steady drip of money/vouchers which should help.
    good luck

Thank you, and no I've never even heard about any survey sites. Do you think you could point me in the right direction?

Hello everyone, I'm still here! I've had some great time with the Daughter and been trying to keep my head clear. Haven't had much to update on until payday arrives. But I do have a question...

I've got freeshares from work, I've logged in the account and basically I can sell them for around £595. But I'd have to pay £35 to sell (standard) and then £94 in tax. I'm being taxed on £475 of it (£120 is out the taxable time frame) what I'm asking is would it be worth cashing in and putting it all towards debts or trying to hold on another year or so, so more becomes available tax free?

    Cheers

  • Hi Jack. Shares can go up or down. The interest on your debts might outweigh what you will get on your shares next year. If thats the case I would rather take the money now and pay down any interest accruing debt. On the other hand if leaving your shares means you will gain more money than any debt interest, then hang on until next year. Shares are pure speculation though as they can plummet at any time.

Hopefully someone will reply who knows more about them than me...:D

Hello all, I know it's been a while since I last posted, but I've been pretty busy. Working hard, overtime etc. I've also been selling plenty of things on eBay (it really is amazing how much money you can make selling things you would never normally think about selling)

I've sold my shares and got a lump sum from that and done a few other bits and bobs to try and raise some money. I don't have and exact figure, but I'm sure come payday I'll be able to pay some much bigger sums of these loans.

I'll obviously update when I do that an all.

I hope everyones well. Keep strong, stay focused, stick to your goals and we can ALL beat our debts!!
