Less than the auction bid price. Wasnt that £38? Just missing the reserve of £40?
I would have got them to let it go at that price.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I think so yes. Didn't they expect it to make £100+ in the auction they threw it into?
Unless they bought other stuff which wasn't shown that was a bloody expensive trip to France0 -
I think their reserve was a little high, but I suppose they were trying to recover the cost of the trip. The wheel was actually a pretty good buy, but it was never going to pay for the trip by itself. I was expecting them to stock up on cheap booze and fags to make it worthwhile (maybe they did and that just wasn't shown). A customised hearse is a great car boot sale vehicle (at least when it works).
I was amazed at people paying £40+ for suitcases of unseen clothes. For that kind of money, I can buy a suitcaseful of clean clothes from charity shops' sale rails, and I can choose the ones I want instead of taking pot luck. I don't think there's a big market for modern used underwear and socks.0 -
Does Del boy ever make his millions? I think it's all about that lucky buy - like the chess set the 'dealer' was hoping was an original Henry Moore collaboration despite being told otherwise by a professional art dealer.
The people on the show are all great characters which makes the series, I can't take any of them seriously though!
Would any serious seller come on an reveal all their sources?!0 -
Just watching on catch up now. The woman dealing in second hand clothing thinks she is going to be a Millionaire as well as the Rolex guy from week one :rotfl:You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0

Personally I could not think of anything worse than rifling through dirty clothes in a suitcase, the thought actually makes me feel a bit grubby.
An auction I attended this week had a box of nicely pressed Irish linen table cloths and napkins, plus several furs (urghh to dead animals) and some vintage hats and went for £35 and you could see and price up everything before you decided to bid.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. i went to my first auction last week and I have to ask ... where do they get all that tat from? It was a general clearance auction and there was some real trash there, stuff selling for £2 etc. I assume it was mostly the auctioneers from house clearances, unless people really do take a strimmer to an auction house and say 'No less than £2 please'.
Hasn't put me off though going back next week to see what they have next0 -

And that's how it starts. You will soon be surrounded by boxes looking for that elusive treasure :rotfl:You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
I'm can't believe people buy those suitcases. I wouldn't want them if they were free.0
