  • Flymetothemoon - you have been keeping very late hours! - you need to get some R&R for the test on sat - oh I forgot we're not the ones doing it - lol!

Went to familiarisation last night - was mad busy & parking hectic - will be setting off in good time on sat. Thought it was v useful for D to see exam room etc. Her biggest concern was what she was going to wear last night "I want to make a good impression!" - ah to be young!

I think that's my lengthy tutoring session over for a few weeks (til P6 son starts!). All I have to do now is provide the R&R and the favourite meals that have been requested for two nights - hope my cooking is up to scratch!
  • Not long now and the nerves are really starting to kick in that's that just me lol
Hoping my D gets a good score today to keep her upbeat but she was quite upset because there was drilling going on in the school and she keep losing her consentration.
I told her that it doesn't matter about the class test now because we know what she is capable off which seemed to help.
Familiarisation day went well on Tues so roll on Saturday.
  • Awe motherearth I know exactly how you feel, I'm a wreck when I think about sat, through D seems fine, which is great, just hope she stays like that. Was reading comments from past years where kids had been getting percentages in the 80's in practice papers and their aqe score was disappointing when standardised as it was early 90's. This had me fretting all night though have decided whatever will be will be. We know our kids have worked their wee socks off and that's all that counts now, so I'm trying to convince myself anyway lol

Oh workingmumof2, my heart has started racing reading your post! My daughters scores have been between mid 80's and mid 90's!! I really hope it will be enough after all the effort she has put in, just hope the pressure won't get to her.
  • I think your daughter will be fine Mrs Mum, her scores are great. I think the worst thing about this whole process is the lack of information about the standardisation of scores which leaves us all guessing!!!

Hi workingmumof2, I just wish their percentage was their percentage score or at the least we had a better understanding of how they work out there score! Good luck for Saturday x
  • Yeah I agree Mrs Mum, good luck to you too, can't believe its tomorrow. My younger daughter was up last night with a tummy bug so now worrying eldest daughter doesn't get it 😞 xx

Just thought I would nip in and say Good Luck!!

Both my daughters have been through it and both now at Grammar school so I know what you are going through.
Advice would be to remind them to read the question clearly before answering it, simple I know but every mark counts. If they don't know the answer -have a guess. And try to answer all the questions.

Just so you know, there is no harder test among the 3, they are graded equally because you can opt to sit 2 of the 3 and it would be unfair if one of the 2 was the harder one.

Final and most important advice I can give is do not be put of applying for 1st preference school (when you get score) because you think your child's score wont be high enough based on previous years. -let the clearing system work it out and stick to your preferences in strict order. I know a few horror stories were parents did not apply for 1st choice on the basis they "thought" score was not good enough, only to find out later that some-one with lower score got in....... (have a look at previous years lowest scores and it tends to go up one year and down the next, for this very reason)

Again -Good luck and try to relax.

I can't believe we're now at the day before the first paper! Where have the months went from I posted the first message in May  Papers here have been from 81-89% for the past few weeks with most being around 85% but I still can't help but stress over it.. I'm sticking to the thought that if she gets 80% then it will be score 100+ but then I start doubting it.

I think the letter AQE sent out a while ago about how they take the average from the children's scores and everyone with the average gets score 100... Anyone below average will be below 100, above average will be 100+ etc explained it well but unfortunately we can't know what this years average will be :(

Fingers crossed your daughter doesn't catch the bug mrs mum... It went though our house a few weeks ago! You had me a bit worried with some getting practice scores above 80% and getting score in 90s but for now we can just hope for the best.
:hello: Animals are my friends...and I don't eat my friends:EasterBun
  • Hi everyone can't believe its tomorrow best of luck for all your wee ones how you all planned to spend this evening, I'm talking my daughter to see my friends wee puppies hopefully that will help her chill, she was up a few times last nite with nightmares. On a plus note she had a really good score yesterday in her last test so that has helped as she was very worried.
