Gosh don't know what I would do if daughter broke down in tears at the test centre, that would be like my worst nightmare, I would probably bring her back home if she got herself into that state! Well I won't know what state she will be in at the test centre since hubby said I'm not allowed to bring her! Lol. Hopefully ours kids (and us) will be able to keep it together x0

You're certainly not alone in feeling the pressure - I remember when my DD did the test 4 years ago the stress was tangible with some parents and kids. Despite the best efforts of the grammar school, the experience of waiting for an hour whilst the kids did each paper was really unpleasant. Parents were probably more stressed than kids! However, I think it is slightly less stressful now that a pattern has developed and kids know they have to go to the grammar to sit the tests etc. It is also helpful that previous papers are now available and the whole process has become established and people know more about it. That said, we are all still nervous and worried about the pressure our young kids may be feeling & we know we must try not to transfer our stress to them or let them even sense that we are anxious as that would not be good for them. It probably stresses kids even more if they are hung up on getting into one particular school and don't want to go to any other school. My son seems calm enough - I just hope he is calm on the inside too! I think it will do them all good to get the 1st paper over with - particularly if they feel it wasn't too bad - then they won't be dreading the next paper. Fingers crossed0 -
Hi everyone
So nice to know that other people are have the same concerns. I have been trying to concentrate this week on keeping things as calm as possible. It is helping that it is parent/teacher interviews this week so DD is getting out of school early. I think at this stage she knows quite a bit it's just whether she can get this all out onto the test paper on Saturday. I think getting the first paper out of the way will be such a relief for us all!0 -
Have to agree that it is important not to let the kids see that we are anxious (so I am just torturing my husband instead, lol). Hopefully the first test on Saturday will go well for all our kids and it will build their confidence for the next one. Daughters teacher told them that if they are thinking to themselves "this is the hardest test I have ever done" then they are to have a quick look at the other children and look at their faces because they will be thinking the exact same thing, thought that was good as they will realise they are all in the same position. Teacher also told them that when they turn the first page over, their little hearts will be racing, so they have to just read the first few questions to calm themselves a little before they even put their pencil to the paper.0

Good advice from your child's teacher Mrs Mum, I would say they will want to race through it on Sat to get it over with. I think the parents hearts will be racing too, I know I'm already having palpitations just thinking about it lol. It's not even now about what mark my daughter gets its more about her not being disappointed as she has worked so hard. Roll on 11am on Sat so we can all have a sigh of relief that the 1st ones over.0

Well daughter did her last practice paper tonight (at the advice of her teacher) before the real one on Saturday. She got a really good score so hopefully that will stick in her mind on Saturday!0

That's good, she will hopefully feel confident now for Sat Mrs Mum. D did her last test in school today also and did well too so just some r & r now for us all in the next few days.0

My son also did his last practice paper in school today and did well so hopefully he has no worries about doing the 1st paper this Saturday. Thankfully the good sub teacher his class had throughout October is now staying on indefinitely as his permanent teacher is still off sick & wont be back before December. We parents are relieved to know that the class will now keep the same teacher until the aqe tests are all over. To be honest we dont care what happens after that, we are just so relieved that the kids have settled and there'll be no more upheaval at this important time.0
