A little fed-up cleaning - dust in my eyes and up my nose, so thought I'd come back and check in again.
icecubequeen - what Circus did you go see? We saw the Moscow state circus in April (my first circus) and it was brill - something to watch all the time. We just went to see Cirque Surreal a fortnight ago, and to be honest, I didn't enjoy it as much. Probably too surreal for me
AND it didn't have as many acrobats, which I enjoy.
fishcake seems that you need to borrow one of my cats. Bailey cat came to the cat flap this morning and I thought he looked like he had something but his mouth was empty when I opened the door for him (he has me trained so he doesn't have to scramble in the flap). I went out later and found he'd dumped his dead mouse right at the cat flap!
Pen-Pin Great result! You must have been very nice in your complaints. Enjoy the wine, sounds like it should go great with a roast!
((hugs)) to sharon and jackieo, and anyone else that might need them.
Right - off to cook late lunch. Why more pots JUST after I've cleaned up. ??0 -
Afternoon everybody :hello:
JackieO - hope the oncologist appointment is encouraging
Penny-Pincher!! - WELL DONE!!
I had an expensive weekend, thanks to going to Lewisham Market and finding that they had a French market in honour of the Tour de France. Got some stuffed olives, and they also had a massive stall of dry sausages, so I treated myself to three (there was a deal on
) which will keep in the fridge for a couple of months, and will be useful contributions to picnics with friends. They also had the usual stalls so I got a variety of fruit and veg.
Also had a singing lesson, and sang in a choir concert. beemuzed, how did your Mozart go?
I'm still considering this gym membership deal from last week's Money Tips. After looking into it further I've realised that membership of the gorgeous gym I actually want to join comes at a premium, an extra £25 per month on top of the insurance premium.
Why is everything more expensive in London?
If I lived in the provinces, I could have gym membership and usable private medical insurance for about £25 all-in per month (that being just the premium). Here, it could easily go up to £60 as not only are the gyms more expensive, but you also pay a premium to have the option of treatment in London hospitals
I know I can still afford it if I really want to - and it's still a big saving on the full membership rate - but it requires serious thought, which £25 a month would not. Perhaps I will mull it over until the end of this month when my annual pay adjustment comes in (which should just about cover the cost as I've already absorbed all of my "cost of living" increases this year... but on the other hand I had been planning to use that money for SAVINGS) However, in a year I'll be turning 30 and it would mean a lot to me if I was back down to a size 12 by then
Of course if I do go for it, a small amount of capital investment will also be required. I already have suitable clothing from when I last had a gym membership, but would need a new swimming costume, and a sports bra so as to avoid giving myself two black eyes while doing aerobics :rotfl:
Need to do some cooking tonight as I don't have any HM "ready meals" left. I will be making a haddock and salmon pie with potato topping, and a mushroom risotto. Tomorrow I will do some baking... and I MUST buy some wine, as the rack is now depleted to the point of one bottle
The question is, which will offer better value: Tesco (with their 30% off any 6 bottles) or Majestic (specialist and known to be better quality to begin with)
All those dental problems sound painful  Hope they are being sorted out now.
Rzl xx

(((HUGS))) to Sharon59 - hope everything is alright
Glad you got sorted out at waitrose PenPin - enjoy it
Met my friend for tea this morning ( part of my bikini diet - herbal tea only  ) my friends have been so nice about me getting a new job - makes me think how lucky I am to have them.
Managed to get 3 loads dried on the line today so will try to do some ironing tonight.
When DD gets in from school we are going to look at a venue for her leaving party - hope she is alright with it as it is a working mens club function room, I would love a grand to blow on the party in a hotel but simply dont have it. The room hire is £50 and I would have to cater and decorate the room on top of that so will be doing it the oldstyle/mse way as much as possible - also need to book a DJ.
Then popping over to my Mum & Dads to look into camping sites for August Bank Holiday Weekend - hope we can get somewhere as they do tend to get booked up early and as usual we may have left it too late
Day 2 of my diet and so far so good - did half an hour on my ski machine last night and will try to do the same tonight.
Hope everybody is having a good day :hello::cool: Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0 -
Afternoon all,
Another wet day and Mossy our 'foster' dog has managed to wreck some of my plants, upend planters and nearly got away with the post that was a gift of membership of RHS...thrilled with that even if it does mean a return flight to most of the free entry gardens...an excuse to gallivant for a few weekends maybe??
Hugs to all...JackieO you have probably heard the options by now so hope they don't sound too horrible...waiting is always the worst so keep that chin as high as its been and think of 15 months...try not to believe in those kind of things but don't really disbelieve either, have had some strange things happen in the course of my life and don't really know why I am reluctant to accept.
Mioliere...glad to hear that Metatone is still on market, it was my father's preferred tonic in the 50s so must work if its still there. IMO tiredness is often due to a lack of mineral or vitamin in minute quantity...B vits I have found helpful and I also take zinc as it seems to help ward off colds...don't know why and it mightn't work for everyone.
Having ham and cabbage today for dinner and some of Twinks hobnobs and OH is cooking, so I can be here for another while. We will be 37 years married to-morrow and are going out to lunch to celebrate as neither dgs is here to-morrow...will go to a nice Thai restaurant not far away and drink when I go home to avoid being breathalysed and losing my license!
Nothing exciting in my life beyond starting the shawl I was supposed to start last week...might do it when house is back to normal tonight

Good afternoon all.
Well it's been beautiful here today, sunny and warm. But just as I type that the sun's gone in
Do you think it's shy?
Got two loads of washing line-dried so that's a bonus:D
Don't know where today has gone really, I feel like I've been *doing lots* but I look around and it doesn't really show
(I wasn't really trying to compete with domestic goddess, Aussie:p )
PP what a result at Waitrose:T If I remember rightly they'd already refunded you on the original joint and given you a free replacement? Now they're refunding you on the free one and compensation, and a bottle of wine. Martin will be very proud of you:D (just a thought, what on earth will they do if this one is *off*:rotfl: :rotfl: I'm sure it won't be, it's just fun imagining!!;) )
JackieO hope you've had a reassuring visit with the oncologist. (((((((hugs))))) and positive vibes.
Off to raid the freezer for something quick for dinner. Going to be doing three *sittings* tonight so it wants to be something that can be reheated in the microwave! I don't wish to get that friendly with my cooker:rotfl:
Enjoy the rest of the day,

MeanMarie I hope that you have as nice a wedding anniversary tomorrow as we are having today.
Enjoy your day tomorrow. (Posting this early as not sure when I will be on tomorrow as am off to airport to see Uncle off) Blind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.
And when no hope was left inside on that starry starry night.

Afternoon everyone
Just back from my jolly in the caravan, its been good, meeting up with old friends, and chilling. Managed to catch the mens final and mixed doubles final of the tennis too, brill nice to have a British winner. Weather a bit mixed sunshine and showers and a lot of rain on Thursday, but somehow managed not to get wet all weekend. OS/MS too as we were on a rally.
(((((hugs))))) to Jackie0 I don't know what a oncologist is, and hopefully never have to find out! Hope the injections soon kick in Mrs_Mix, :grouphug: and anyone else feeling under the weather/in pain are soon feeling a bit brighter.
Apart from feeding DH, and clearing up emails, don't think I will be doing much else today, so will start again in the morning:o .
Happy Anniversary anniestar
I went in the Yorkshire Store in Driffield while away, where they had Stardrops, Starclens and the disinfectant both pine and pink for 79p, so stocked up.:j Trouble is I had so much other cleaners I am still working my way through them to use them up, as could not throw them away could I!
Amie what have you been up to to hurt our back, or shouldn't I ask???
Take care everyone

Good afternoon everyone,
Didnt get chance to post this morning, and have only just finished and sat down now - only DD and i here as DS has gone to Dartmoor with his class for the week. I took the LOs to wave them off at 10, also had a little cry - i know DS has stayed at his dads for a few nights before, but he hasnt been away like this before. I know he will have a lovely time, and DD is really happy at spending a lot of 'mummy' time together, but i will miss him.
DD and i have just had our dinner - cheats chicken tikka, and it was lovely (DDs favourite at the mo). I just have to empty the DW, reload it and then everything is done, and im going to sit and have a glass of wine!!!
Annie - smell is all but gone, think it was something dead in the drain, that has naturally gone now. Mind you, i am getting a bit obsessed with bleaching the drains now, so hopefully no more unexplained smells!!!
PP - glad that Waitrose were so good, must be their policy as ive always found our Waitrose to be very good.
To all those who have dental probs, hope things are better now!!!
((HUGS)) to all today.
Have a lovely evening,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
Good evening folks well the worst is over, and I now know that I will be walking round like a drunken sailor in a few weeks time as my right boob has to come off.I was given the option of a partial mastectomy but weighing things up I prefer to get rid of this horrible thing altogether .I will probably have to have some radiotherapy and maybe some chemo but whats that in exchange for seeing my beautiful grandchildren grow up. I shall be a bit lop-sided until they sort me out with a prothesis, but that is far better than the alternative .
Good job I have thick hair, and it grows quite quickly as well. I have heard what the worst that can happen to me and I am such a tough old boiler that I am not going to let it get me down:rotfl: . The breast care nurses are terrific and very supportive and I have a number that I can ring if I have a question. I just want it over and done with as soon as possible as I am due to go to Sherringham on holiday with my youngest DD and the tribe at the end of August. I shall do a lot of sitting and being spoilt and watching of children on the beach with a bit of luck..Both the girls are 100% behind me which makes all the difference. Thank you all for your kind wishes ,but I'm not going anywhere for the next few years hopefully I intend to carry on growing old disgracefully .So what if I only have one bap it's not the end of the world:D .Onwards and upwards :j0 -
(((Hugs))) JackieO as you say at least now you know the worse that will happen. I would feel just the same and want to get it over with and be on the other side and recovering. The light at the end of this tunnel will be some quality time spent with your lovely family. A friend of mine has had both "baps" taken, is still here for her family and is also holding down a nursing career, this is just a horrible blip. Take care of yourself and remember to spoil yourself too.
Catz xOur days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.
