We have had exactly the same problem with the channels being blocked after 14 days which no one at Sky on the number given on saynoto0870 could cope with - we wasted nearly four hours over a 24 hour period on the phone being passed from pillar to post. Then I looked on this forum and agree 100% with harz99 - the only way to get this solved seems to be to take a deep breath and use the 08700 240777 - at least the people there know what you're talking about, know that you don't have to sign a contract or a DD and will do their best to help. Having said that, we still don't have the free channels (blocked for the last 5 days) and when I asked to have these days added on to the end of the six months, they wanted to offer a credit which we could use for Sky Box Office. We don't want Sky Box Office. They eventually agreed to add the "missing" days on to the end when we do eventually get the channels back (some problem for which they have to speak to Coding System Enquiries, who don't work over the weekend) - it remains to be seen if they do. They have promised the channels will be working within the next 48 hours, which is obviously how long it takes Sky to press a button. Wish I'd never started on this.0

Update to my post above - the channels have now, at last, been restored. Let's hope we can keep them for the next 6 months - am I being too optimistic ?0

Hope so - we still have all our channels after 22 days, and received a statement from Sky this morning, which correctly shows everything about installation and the 2 packs paid for upfront and nil balance to pay.
Unless we have been very lucky, it does seem that buying online from Dixon's and only having contact with Sky via the special number has helped us.
As I said in a previous post - have any of you out there that have experienced problems gone the above route, or did you all buy from your local retailer and do the paperwork in store?0 -
What a great community to share this valuable experience and tips. Like others I received the two 'oops letters'. I filed them away without taking action, the kids tell me we did lose the two trial packages at some point but only for a day last week (two weeks after install !) and they returned the next day without any calls to Sky. I do not intend to send the DD forms back for reasons already detailed and teh main part of the appeal of teh offer. I was expecting Sky to push me to get onto the full pacakge but not so soon or underhand. Will watch the thread with interest over the coming months.0

Just received another letter from Sky, they have my contract 'but not my payment details'......that is because I have paid the one of fee Mr Sky!! They have even kindly offered to accept my payment by credit card 24 hours a day.....they will still be waiting then.0

Well seems the penny has droped at Sky. Just received my first bill and it is for £0.00. No calls made, no DD forms returned just a bill showing last months subscription for 2 Mix package @ £15 with £15 credit against, likewise in adavnce for next month and list of charges for Digibo £99,Installation £120 again with credits again. So pay once no commitment seems to have worked for me so far, maybe I was too early to judge.0

Harz we bought from dixons online and only used the special number. The guy OH spoke to when we set it up was excellent so it looks like we have just been unlucky. We are still getting loads of letters off them, talk about wasting paper! Our second 2 weeks is up this sat so we will see what happens.0

Just a quick update. Got home after a few days away to find we still have our extra 2 packs and two more letters from Sky! First one was a further invitation to fill a DD form, and the second (dated 6 days later) from customer services saying they hoped our problem had now been resolved and inviting us to call on the normal CS number if we have further problems!!
Needless to say previous advice to only use the dedicated team number still applies.0 -
With the Sky+ you will be better going through Quidco and getting £85 cashback and gettting the Sky+ for £99 installed.
As for the phone line just get him to lay it loose and say you will put it under the carpet later, when hes gone just take the phone line away they will not check at all.
As for the shoes when they came round last week he had some plastic protectors on his shoes, this was a proper Sky installer but you may get a contracter.
Got Sky+ installed last Tuesday morning by two of the most miserable men I have had the misfortune to meet, anyway no way would they leave the phone line loose. They said they could leave some wire for us to lay under our carpets and re-arrange the installation date or we had to have it stapled down. Our only phone socket is at the top of our stairs and the fact that they laid it from our living room up to the socket was really hideous looking so as soon as they went it was removed. They said non-Sky installers may leave it loose but they were bleating on about health and Safety and the possibility of being sued if we tripped over it.
Is it never necessary to have the phone line connected for Sky+? I am aware it would have to be connected for Box Office, etc.0 -
This has happened to us too, been cut off and had the letters hubby rang them up and they said he still needed to give bank details for it to be activated - he gave them his credit card no!why?!Will be having to check the statements i think! The thing is it took eight hours before we received the channels again but that was only friday and they have just been cut off again - hubby tried the alternative no to the 0870 no but it puts you through and then cuts you off!So looks like we will be getting an expensive phone bill and probably money taken from our credit card as well.grocery challenge jan 17 £ / 350.000
