More than once you have said to unplug the line and Sky will not know - how do you know that statement is actually true, have you insider knowledge?
Also, I beg to differ that the first 6 months subs are free - going by the documentation I've got, what is free is the equipment and standard installation, and what I've paid for via Dixon's is the first 6 months subs - in other words a Sky IDC, bound by their T&Cs.0 -

.
Because i have had several Sky contracts and so have my friends and every time i/they unplug the phone line, you only need to phone line plugged in when you have multiroom as they check both boxes are in the same property on a regular basis , the installer needs to get it phone wired up as part if his remit so just unplug after he has gone.
I have a new contract starting next week and i will be unplugging the phone line again after he has gone.
If you are still unsure there are many people who will back up my comment on http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/0 -
I don't have a phone line but have just had the pack arrive. Am I wasting my time with this & going to have to ask for a refund?0

Tell them when you phone to book the fitting or send pack back for a refund, the choice is yours.0 -

I'm reluctant to get it done as I don't want one of those hideous dishes hanging off my houses wallMerry Christmas MSE!0 -

If you live in a non digital area where you cannot get freeview, or for that matter even C5, it is the cheapest way of getting good quality digital viewing, and of course you can still record off your analogue aerial as well should you wish to.0 -
I spoke to Sky last night & they asked me for a extra £25 quid. I refused and he said then he wouldn't send out a installer. i pointed out that it doesn't say anywhere i have to pay extra when I signed up. I called back and got someone else who asked if I had a landline, I said yes but it was my flatmates and didn't know the number so he took my mobile one and was happy with that. I guess the engineer may ask for £25 on tues or will let it go (hopefully)0

Details of the offer on the Dixons website still state:-
"You can even normally connect your equipment to your phone line at no extra cost so you can enjoy more of the interactive services on offer."
I'm not too bothered either way, but feel this must be at least a grey area under the sale of goods act. If they didn't mention the phone line, there wouldn't be an issue.0 -
Watch out for the postage hit if you go for the Dixons online deal - they are essentially charging you to deliver a code number in a box.
Why you can't just pay online get the number and make the call to sky to arrange installation is beyond me. Or even do it all online. It's a pathetic ordering system.0
