  • Fire roaring in the lounge and outside is thick fog, promises to be one of the coldest days of winter today with an expected top temp of 9 oC. I think I will recover the hot water bottle from the van, its just that sort of day.

First egg this morning from my ex battery hens, they have adapted really well to a harsh climate and none of the comforts of a warm environment. Its usually during the transition that any health problems rear their heads as the change can be quite traumatic for them.

Planning on a NSD as they have been few and far between lately.
    Cheers

    Hi all,

So, apart from some eggs I need for tomorrow's tea (gone through 12 in 2 days:eek:) and beans for Friday, I have hopefully done my last spending of the month. I should have £30 ish left and can't decide whether to pop it in a savings pot or invest in meat for next month as we're all but out of the freezer stocks. I'd feel like i'm cheating stocking up but it seems sensible then again, If I put it away and have to make do, I suppose I'll have more left in the long run with me having very little will power and all! Nice dilemma to have though!

Spends in the last 2 days have been:
£34.49 in Ald1 on the majority of the weeks shop
    £2 on some emergency chocolate
£5.09 on cat litter and furball thingies
£13.43 in Asd* on fruit, veg, drinks for LO, and posh coffee for OH - bit peeved as we only went in for cornmeal and some tinned beans/tomatoes that were on offer and they had neither.

Oh well. Meal plan for the week
Sat: burgers in buns, wedges and salad
Sun: Pork Chops with Wedges & salad (was polenta and veg but never mind)
Mon: Tuna fish cakes, beans and poached egg
    Tues: Veggie tagine
    Weds: Lasagne & salad
Thurs: Sausage with lentils and veg
Fri: Beany salad with mint and lemon dressing.

Anyway, I'll be declaring on Thurs and need 2 more NSDs so Tues and Weds?

Good night all and have a good week!

£23.85 spent at Mr T's this morning...leaving me less than £50 for next week's food shop from the July budget...careful planning needed methinks.
Good luck to everyone and hope you all manage to come in under budget for July.

As I don't need anything from the market I decided to go shopping today rather than tomorrow, which is when I would usually go.

I spent a bit more than I usually would but I've bought quite of lot of store cupboard stuff like tinned tomatoes, beans, cereal etc and also most of the meat I need for next month as I've already done my menu plan to last up until we go on holiday at the end of August! So next month I should only need fresh fruit & veg, milk etc so hopefully there will be some of the food budget left over to add to the holiday spends:D.

Spent a total of £32.88 today spread across Ald!, Mr T and Icel*nd so total spend to date is £241.86/£250.

Spent 17.91 on fruit and veg, milk, marg and pudding for Sunday dinner (mum and dad were over). That should last me until Thursday when I will go to aldi. Just realised that won't be the last Thursday but hey ho! Will see how long I can make it last before I need to get the paper to do my big monthly shop!

  • Doing really well so far this month - but this has been down more to necessity rather than my shopping willpower! Still, we have eaten well and still have some meals in the freezer. I will need to go shopping again mid week and then a big shop at the weekend, but should still come under budget. I have learnt a lot over the last few weeks.
