Great bargains Craigy. struck lucky in Asda too but not as good as yours, still I got over £40 pounds worth of meat, fruit and veg
For £10.24. I checked receipt as thought the SA had swiped a pack of mince twice, and she had, went to CS and got 1.24 back
and a £2.00 gift card, was well pleasedI got 10 packs of vegetable melody at 24p instead of £1,50. freezers crammed again.

£30 left for the next 2 weeks, so should be on track to stay the same as last year or less.

Hello, I went to Sains for a couple of things and came out with what I think was quite an impressive YS haul, saving £16 off the original prices on 4 items. These were a large free range chicken down from over £9 to £3.39, 12 Basics rolls down from 45p to 10p, Pizza Express pizza was £4.50, cut to £1.19, half a crispy duck £2.39 down from £9.50. I was in at 10pm, and I think the reason there was still what I consider decent stuff left because they had moved most of it to a different aisle! Everything I bought had been reduced twice.

I'm still a tiny bit over my aimed for budget for the year but pleased to still be trying and getting some good bargains.

We had Aldi duck pieces with salad for tea, lovely! I asked my daughters what they wanted and planned ahead as they had a GCSE today, after the last one I defrosted a piece of beef I'd frozen after cutting a half price massive piece in half -- I would never have shopped/planned like that before joining this challenge :)
    Good luck all.

    Mr T. And rump's down to £8.50/kg.

Mr M have a special offer, but I think it's rump (£10+ instead of £15+)
Thanks for that but I'll pass. Had a couple of bad does with Mr T meat so don't buy it now. Oh well :(

Just reading the posting and following the threads. Must join in for the July challenge as spending is getting a bit out of hand.

Does anyone have a weekly ball park figure I should be aiming for?

Husband and myself, (the dogs can be extra) both work at home, mainly outdoors, we don't eat breakfast but have lunch, and tea with a pudding. I try to cook from scratch, sometimes bulk cook and freeze, I don't really have time for shopping so use the online delivery quite a lot, usually As*a or Sainbobs.
Oh - the other thing, husband doesn't like 'foreign food' and is allergic to tomatoes so no pasta or rice dishes, he's a strictly meat and two veg man.

I would be very grateful if I could get some idea of what to aim for, I think I know where to start cutting down but it would be interesting to know what others with similar households aim for. Thanks

Bit difficult to know as although there is only myself and DH and I also cook from scratch, bulk buy/cook and freeze but I shop around for bargains and I have 'persuaded' my DH to eat most things.

We include everything for housekeeping including meals, packed lunches/teas, cleaning, general toiletries etc. We don't have any animals, have a separate budget for wine and each have our own small personal budget.

So far this year we have spent around £205 a month so am aiming for £200 this month.

I think the best advice I could give is to get a large clip and keep ALL your receipts for the month. At the end go through and see where you think you could have saved money and then come up with an achievable budget - then go from there. Good luck and keep reading/posting on the thread for support and help.

I had a NSD but haven't added it as I forgot that on Monday I bought some eggs from my work mate whose chickens are now laying - so £1.20 spent. Have added to my siggy.

I had 'free food' today as I was doing a MS which included meals and DH had ham, eggs, chips and beans all from freezer and fridge -bless :)

Hope you all have a fantastic Friday

Can I be back in after a months absence please? My July starts today and due to being unwell my budget will be reduced to only £180 I do have a lot in though so it will be a make do and use up month.

I'll do my meal plan this morning and a small shop for bits and pieces.

DH was late back from a work trip yesterday and had no lunch, He didn't fancy the chicken pie I was planning to make and asked for a salad type tea so had to nip out again for a bag of salad, pickled onions, some pork and egg pie and some crisps to much while watching the footy. £4.79 to add.

I have £37.60 left in my food purse but will need bread and cheese next week at least. I also need GF bread as my prescription for bread mixes wont arrive until next week. I had stopped getting the prescription but now I am on JSA and it is free I thought I would get the mixes as the bread they make is quite nice and at £2.50 - £3 a loaf when bought it will help with the budget.

I am making the chicken pie for tonight, a cake for the weekend and maybe an apple crumble though I might leave that until Sunday.

    Good Morning,

My second grocery shop of the month this morning came to £17.20. This leaves me with £54.32 until the 27th June. Doing the challenge, along with the fiscal fast is certainly keeping me focussed.

I need to concentrate on my menu plan for the rest of the month to help use up what I have in already.

I have not had opportunity to catch up with everyones posts, so hope you are all ok and doing well with the challenge.
