First shop of My June budget £100 spend, this seems huge compared to most of the budgets here but it was A LOT less than I have been spending, so I'm feeling quite pleased.

It's been a few years from I joined in but i will be honest and say as 2 adults, 1 child and a dog we easily spend £400 - £500 a month on food :o and as DD2 is due in the next 4 months I want us to learn to cut back on the food shop for when I am maternity leave.

I think £75 a week is achieveable for us if we start to meal plan and do less impulse silly buys on snacks and drinks out. So I would like to start from Monday and give us a budget of £225 for the rest of the month.

Help keep me on the right path please guys :D

    Hiya everyone :hello:

Didn't go food festival as weather was carp :( Might go tomorrow if it fairs up a bit fingers xd. Still had to go shopping but just made it a dash to Al*i and actually managed to get just about everything I needed anyway. It was mostly for pack-ups next week and replenishing the fruit and veggies so spent £30.41 and seemed to have loads :T I've put it on siggie. I think they have lowered their prices a little again - mind you there is fierce competition here with most of major SMs having a branch close by ;)

I had portion of HM spag bol from freezer with part-baked roll and salad and DH had sausages from freezer, creamed pots and HM cauli and broccoli cheese bake. We had the first strawberries of this year with yoghurt and blueberries :) I only buy when in season as I don't think they have the same flavour all through the rest of the year - same with most things really IMO.

Hope you all have a super Sunday

Morning everyone! I went shopping yesterday instead of today, as I had to get a load of bits for work as well (work paid!). Went to ald! and asd@, will update sig later on when I've worked out what was mine.

I had the most delicious (and cheap!) pie for dinner yesterday! And the best part is that there are still two portions left over!! I took some pastry out of the freezer, frozen as a half pack when on offer, also a bacon steak from an 81p pack of cooking bacon that had five steaks and enough bacon for two baps, some leftover frozen cooked chicken, a dodgy onion and half a pack of this week's super six mushrooms. Cooked all that down and added some hm cheese sauce, pastry was enough for a top and bottom of the pie. Served with mash and freezer veg. Was absolutely delicious, and I can't wait until dinner to have some more! Served two adults using half of the pie. It's amazing what you can make from random bits in the fridge freezer! Reckon the whole thing cost me under £1.50 to make. Love it!

Need to pop to ffoods to pick up the last couple of bits today, then that will be it until next weekend.

    Have a lovely Sunday,

  • Have totally lost the plot!! Dh has been shopping and lost receipts, I have bought things from the grocery budget that really shouldn't be on it (new bin, dog bowls and dog shampoo to name a few!!) and can't for the life of me remember how much it has all cost!:o Upshot is, I think that its best that I leave the June challenge as I really can't declare spends this month! :(

So, I'm out for June....see you all on the July challenge....good luck everyone!!:D

  • Spent £150 of my £300 so far this month. I did a big shop in Aldi and then a couple of smaller shops in Tesc* and Sainsbobs. I have enough meat for the rest of the month, but I will need to get more veg, salad and dairy, plus cleaning things.

I haven't cooked much over the last few days because I had a horrible tooth abscess which came out of nowhere on Wednesday and I had to have the tooth out on Friday - the pain was unreal so I haven't eaten much. I had first proper food this lunch - made Aldi gammon steak with hm latkes and beans and it was lovely! The Aldi spec. Selected gammon is lovely and one steak is plenty for two people.

I went to Tesc* yesterday and got three ys chickens, so froze two and cooked one which we will have with brocolli bake for tea.

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

Popped into morrisons yesterday as ds eats his bodyweight in apples I swear, and we had run out again. So £6.81 on odds and sods including chocolate for a treat.

Today we were going to go out for coffee and cake but we're all shattered so have made the brownie recipe fron 1st page and saved £15 in the process! It makes so much I usually freeze some for 'emergencies'! ;)
