OK, so month 1 of the challenge. As such (especially if you've no idea what you previously spent), don't get too concerned. It takes time to get used to it, and the normal recommendation is to keep an eye on spends for a month, look back and see where you may have 'slipped' and work out a strategy for avoiding those in future, set yourself a realistic budget, then start chipping away at it slowly each month until you're comfy with with it :)

Thank you cw18, Even though I will definitely spend more than I hoped for, I feel it will be less than normal and the large shops on the 27/5 took my freezer from being defrosted and completely empty to full with freezer meals, veg, fruit etc. Suppose that's quite good, thinking about it! :)

Have you looked over your Mr T spend to see what went wrong?

I normally shop online everywhere except A1di but as I rely on others to get me out the house, I always jump at the chance. I spent nearly 1 hour doing a menu plan and shopping list, why oh why didn't I keep to it! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Spends at Wilka today - needed rubber gloves - I can't clean without them. My hands play up if exposed to any cleaning supplies.
We had HM Smoked Mackerel Quiche + HM wedges + salad for dinner.

  • Another NSD for us, doing quite well this month.

Dinner tonight will be venison casserole, thanks to a hunting friend.

Todays main task will be to harvest the apples off the last apple tree and then work out what to do with them. Have already preserved enough to see us through to next autumn, so I forsee a lot of apple crumble and apple shortcake in the next few days.

Starting to get low on sausages, so will have to get around to making some more, the last lot were sun dried tomato and caramelised onion, sounds weird but tasted delicious, and therefore did not last as long as they should have.

    Managed another NSD today.

Had lunch out with a friend at Wethersp**ns (different budget) and DH had a cheese omelette with freezer French fries and beetroot. I had cheese and biccies for tea as not really hungry.

Definitely shopping tomorrow. We have a food festival in the town :) - don't know what but will report back after, and then shops :(

It was beautiful day here for a change - warm and sunny - so probably back to normal tomorrow :rotfl:

Hope you all have a super Saturday

Was going to have macaroni cheese for tea tonight but I have been given 2 big boxes of chestnut mushrooms and 2 heads of broccoli. Any suggestions my mind is blank this morning.
