  • No spends today. Going to make homemade quiche later as we have lots of eggs that need to be used up. Will be a no spend for tomorrow too as taken sausages out of freezer to make toad in the hole. With homemade Yorkshire pudding. Plenty of milk, fruit & bread in.

Russetred - just adapt your maccaroni cheese to add in the mushrooms and broccoli. I find maccaroni cheese a bit bland so always add in mushrooms and broccoli, cook them in the sauce so they absorb it and become nice and soft. Yum, yum - one of my favourite dishes.

Went to Lidl today to buy some top up bits and also toothpaste - we tried the Lidl brand Dentalux mid-week and its horrid - so back to Colgate. £71.14 spent so bringing my monthly spends to £93.51/£200 - that's almost half way and its only the 7th.

Also OH is out at the market buying Indian snacks so will have to add that in later too.

Yikes, its all going pear-shaped this month.

DH was sent to Aldi today with a list as I am poorly. He didn't get everything as he said it was horribly busy but at least that meant he only spent £10. Luckily we have some stuff in freezer to see us through so hopefully a few NSD's until I'm feeling better

    Hi All

Well I overspent my £30 weeks budget, but only by about £7, so I've decided to increase it to £40 per week for next 3 weeks and see how it goes.

I'm planning to not use it as a target so hopefully will have money left over. £30 was just not enough for me to make the most of the bargains. However the week on £30 really made me think about not buying bargains unless I need them soon.

We are slowly working through the tinned pulses and will be going to the spice wholesaler to buy a few large packs and I may then sort a cupboard out for our baking stuff so we can see what we have in stock more easily.

Well done to everyone and thanks for keeping me motivated. :)

Went aldi to get a couple of things that wouldn't come out of the grocery budget but couldn't resist a few items so £5.39 spend there and then popped into farmfoods to get fruit and milk. Well that was the plan but ended up seeing other things that I 'need'. So spent £30.27 there. Ended up buying a lot of branded biscuits as they worked out the same price at economy. 80p for a double pack of foxes biscuits! Also bought some freezer bits which weren't needed. When I got back I remembered that the freezer was pretty full! I had a real panic as I didn't think it was going to fit in! With some careful juggling I managed to just fit it in, but was a real squeeze! Why did I buy more frozen stuff just because I was there! Anyway I will update my signature with £35.66.

Normally I wouldn't bother, but I actually have freezer space for once..... and I'll definitely use more from it than 4 weekday papers will cost me (OH scrounged todays token from his sister, so that saves me the cost of a 5th paper too ;))

I've mostly been awol this month and am now going to formally back out of the GC for June - I'll still be around just not actively participating in the challenge.
I may bob back in in July but again it may not be to actively participate as we will have some block/quarterly expenses to account for too :)

    Hello all
Had a small spend today after work £3.02/£20.00, and that's it for a couple of days. I found a brand match coupon for £1.12 and I used that as part payment, as it was up tomorrow and I'd forgot about it, so happy days!

Nothing happening here, just work so no spending will be done all a bit boring but at least the sun is shining.

  • Another NSD yesterday, so am still on track for a reasonable month.

Venison casserole with honey glazed root veg for dinner last night was delicious, as was the apple shortcake for dessert.
Tonight will be rump steak, not sure yet what veg to put with it, probably carrots, cabbage, pumpkin and potatoes.

today I will finish weeding the herb garden and prune the roses, now its written down, I will do it, otherwise, just seem to let things lapse.
