cheerfulness4 - why not use carrier bags - £0 and as they are smaller, easy to tie up and toss in the wheelie bin, saves keeping a smelly big sack in the kitchen too.We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0

Just thought I would pop on while I have 5 ..
After the unexpected and sad news of my grandad passing away on Sunday I've been so busy trying to sort things out and look after my mam that I still haven't spent anything (except funeral costs) ...
Haven't been on as much but I'm hoping after Monday I can start to pull myself together as I've convinced my mam and dad to try and get a couple of days away then it's only me and the boys to look after ... And hopefully get back to work !
Suppose I'm nearly 2 weeks into Junes GC and still not spent anything ... Things are starting to get a little tight on the fresh side but if need be I think I can manage until next week on what we have, I don't mind what I eat and there's plenty for the boys lunches and dinners .... Never thought I would be this prepared but all those whoopsies loafs have paid off

A lot of the carriers I get seem to have holes in the bottom (child safety) which means things leak from them - and while they're currently free from the large supermarkets (if you don't mind losing green points at Mr T) you have to pay in L1dl and A1di, with the government planning to bring in a 5p/bag charge everywhere.
I don't use black bags in my kitchen. I guess it depends on the size of bin you have, but I just use (large) swing bin liners.Cheryl0 -
I've had a few nsds in a row. Been ill today, not fun! Stayed at home crafting, so not all bad. Made spag bol really cheaply for dinner tonight. About 100g mince, 8 d0lmio ice cubes, squidge of tom pur!e, herbs, stock cube (half- other half in a bag in pantry!), served with spaghetti and grated cheese. Served all three of us nicely, although for once I did just the right amount and then they were hungry! Usually I do too much, and they never want seconds!! Oh well; there's always something to eat here!!
Ch away from tom after school until Sun or Mon, so will only be feeding myself and sometimes the bf. He provided the mince for Monday's dinner, but got a huge one, so the rest is in the freezer - did today's dinner, and three portions in freezer. He also, bless him, got me three packs of the half price chicken on the weekend deal at leedl, and didn't want the money for it! Fed him with one half of one pack, having the other half for dinner tom in a pie, then froze the other packs in their halves, which means another four family meals!! Bonus! Love him to bits.
Will prob do my normal eat up what's hanging around over the weekend, then do a small shop, mainly fresh, on Sunday ready fur the children coming back.
Night all

Have had 3 NSD in a row now, though luckily I had the foresight to buy LOTS of long life milk (8 pints) as Bf has had a mad run on cereal the last 4 days. I don't think he's coping very well with starting 4 on/4 off nights! It's like he has forgotten when breakfast is!
I am hoping to last one more day before Bf takes me to A1di on Friday although we will only need dairy as veg box coming in the morning. Bread and cookie making tomorrow.
Have a great and Thrifty Thursday everyone.GC Jan £200/£200.78 Feb £250/£156.07

Another NSD here today, but as the weather is very cold didn't feel like braving the shops today.
Dinner tonight was Mongolian beef, using beef schnitzel, one of my least favourite beef cuts as it is often quite tough. Turned out well, so I'm happy with it.
Have been spending the last few days readying the herb and vegetable gardens for spring, will plant the garlic tomorrow. The cows come rushing to the fence when they see my purple weed bucket and bellow at me until I relent and tip the contents over the fence.
Have just finished smoking the salamis that we will use for the next few months, the smell throughout the house is wonderful. Will probably do another batch next week, as the hunting season is in full burst. Today's were a combination of beef and venison, next week will be duck.0 -
