OP, if you post what car you have then you will have an idea of a starting figure."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0

Come on guys, didn't you read this? Unless you're going to tell the OP what she wants to hear, please don't contribute. That's regardless of whether what you tell the OP is good advice or not.0 -

Insurance - of any kind - can never put a value on that kind of intangible. It can only put a value on the actual tangible provable sale value of the vehicle. But given that most cars are run on basic bare-minimum maintenance only, and any bill approaching the value of the car is regarded as reason to scrap it, I don't think it an unreasonable approach, actually.
Sure, there's the inconvenience value of being without a car in the interim. That's what the provision of a hire car between claim start and settlement is for.i wish car insurance was like home ins..new for old!
You would _not_ like the premiums... "Oh, look, I've got £700 of damage to my £500 car, can I have a £15,000 car please?"0 -
So if the car is driveaboe whats the issue in looking for a new one? Not helping your self OP.0

Thanks to those who offered constructive advice. We'd already done much of the stuff suggested here, including looking around to see what's available. At least now we know never to seek advice on a board like this again.0

With your attitude that's probably best.
No need to let the truth get in the way of prejudice is there?
You are acting as your own worst enemy.
Have you every seen a group of Boy Scouts marching along and the one that is out of step thinks that it the fault of all the others?
Despite your arrogance I still wish you well.
Good luck.0 -

True, a lot of the obnoxious posts on this thread could have been written by someone the age of the average boy scout. And no. I don't include the op in that, just the responders.0 -
I think some comments here are uncalled for. The OP didn't ask another driver to rear-end his car. He has been put in the position of being hurried into buying a replacement car, when upgrading his car was probably not even in his mind. Unless you have been in the same unenviable position as the OP has, when on, minding his own business driving his car, someone mindlessly rams into the rear of it, these unhelpful comments do more harm than good.0

True, but refusing to face up to the reality afterwards is not much help either. Sometimes life is not that fair.I think some comments here are uncalled for.
