Cancel Sky get NowTV?

I am considering cancelling Sky and getting NowTV instead as I only really watch Sky1, Living and Atlantic. Has anyone else done the same? Is the quality ok?
I currently have Sky Family, fibre bb and talk and pay almost £70 a month. Since Xmas when Sky stopped allowing upfront line rental payments my bill has gone up £50 a year and I'm starting to think it's not worth it. I have a Samsung TV with freeview and freesat tuners so would just need to get a hdd for recording.

Never had Sky via Satellite, but I do have Sky Now, but currently only have movies. With the movie pass you get all the Sky movie channels, plus you can watch the films whenever you want. Not had any issue with streaming, although none of the movies are HD quality, but most have been good enough quality for me. I have noticed with the entertainment pass you get a limited selection of channels but seems to be the main ones, and there is a catch up function, but I haven't used it (think it costs about a fiver a month, and movies are about 8 or 9 pound). The biggest rip off on Now is the sports, (£9.99 for 24 hours) but if you aren't bothered for that, Now is better value than a full subscription (IMO).
Overall, its pretty much like Netflix and Lovefilm but with better films, and more up to date tv shows, though less to choose from.0 -
I have Freesat (Humax box) and a NowTV box. I don't have a subscription but I reckon for £5.99 it would be good value. For movies, I use the Sky Box Office (through the NowTV box) and just pay per movie as and when. No contract required.
I do have my phone and BB with Sky but did a deal when o2 were taken over and it's costing nothing at the moment.
I think the NowTV box is great. Buy it through Quidco and you should get some cash back."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -

I've never had a problem but not being able to watch a TV show wouldn't be a deal breaker for me."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

Thanks everyone. I don't watch sport, don't pay for the Sky HD channels and only really watch things on play back rather than live so it looks like I'll be cancelling Sky TV but will keep the fibre bb and phone line unless I can find something that is truely unlimited for less. My husband will just have to do without Eurosport and watch his cycling online!0

My husband will just have to do without Eurosport and watch his cycling online!Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

I'm doing the same, getting the Now TV + 5 months movie pass for £34.99 is just too good to ignore, I just then need to add £4.99 for entertainment. Compared to almost £50 a month for sky TV!! Albeit SD not HD I believe0

Do remember though NOW TV is not nor is meant to be a way to get full access to Sky on the cheap
NOW TV is the cheaper service so this will be reflected in content and access, although the list of excluded shows is getting smaller all the time.
I'm another happy NOW TV customer.0 -

The OP didn't mention sport!!
Having brought one yesterday for movies I can recommend so far being a dedicated box makes it easier to use, I also have amazon prime via a PS3; but this is better no buffering at all so far and more recent movies.0
