Got to agree, the quality of movies on Now TV is usually better than Film 4 (for me) - I watch both on my LG tv and haven't had any streaming or quality issues on the Now Tv app. Having said that I think the quality was better through the PS3, but that's now in the games room on the spare telly so can't compare directly. I've used some of the free sports passes I got with the telly, and so far haven't had any issues. Wouldn't want to pay for 24 hours and not see the event though - used mainly for live F1. Can't say that the huge price difference between proper Sky and Now is justifiable, but suspect they'll put one up rather than make the other competitive.

I subscribed to the NowTV entertainment package to watch Game of Thrones, didn't buy a dedicated box, just use a PC hooked up to the TV.

To say that I have been underwelmed by the service offered is an understatement.

Adverts, outages etc I very much doubt that I will continue paying £5:99 a month when the current season of GoT finishes, seems overpriced for the level of service to me.

Thanks everyone. I don't watch sport, don't pay for the Sky HD channels and only really watch things on play back rather than live so it looks like I'll be cancelling Sky TV but will keep the fibre bb and phone line unless I can find something that is truely unlimited for less. My husband will just have to do without Eurosport and watch his cycling online!
If you have a Smart TV (or a supported box) your husband can get Eurosport through an online subscription to their streaming service which is £3.99 or £5.99 per month.

ITV player is now being rolled out across all NOW TV boxes :)
  • I love NowTV I have it on the Xbox, only issue I had was when there was one outage but not fussed on that as I got an automatic months for free. I watched Netflix that day when it wouldn't work so it wasn't tne end of the world
  • I have NOW TV. For £5 a month there are 10 pay-TV channels and the quality is noticeably worse on those. But it comes with loads of On Demand and Catch Up services which seem perfectly good quality on my 24 inch TV, and only 4OD has any adverts at the moment. I rarely watch live TV anymore myself.

I rent DVDs by post so I don't subscribe to the Movies, nor the Sports so I can't comment on those. Most TV series will eventually be released on DVD so I can always get those by post in the end if I really want to.

I haven't noticed any technical problems so far but I could easily cope with that, there are other things to do in life besides watching TV.

Having tested it I cancelled my Sky as I watch it less and less and it keeps going up in price every year.

If you just want access to a bit of pay-TV (probably the best bits actually) it seems like good value to me. I'm not sure that they will provide the On Demand services without adverts forever, though. It seems too good to be true, I reckon there will be adverts soon.

Usually I would agree service outages can be lived with, but mine went down Sunday so couldn't watch The Simpsons live (not available on catch up) and then Tuesday morning it went down again while watching Game of Thrones on catch up- during a very tense moment I might add!

I have no issues with the picture quality on the live channels. That being said, I'm watching on a 32 inch TV in my bedroom.

Its great for a bedroom tv, you don't have to bother with multiroom and having wires being installed over the house. I'm on Sky Fibre 38Mbps too so there's never any buffering.
