    Me too.

Given the price of M&S clothing and other goods it is more akin to a £50 voucher to spend elsewhere really. Still, it was free, and appreciated.

There is no evidence to support that whatsover.
If anything, they would be keener on selling a fee paying account.

Should have gone for the regular account like me and you would had more chance of being accepted.

Just tried this, got the 48 hour response message so will see.

I have a Barclays sacrificial lamb account with no DD/SO's and £4.79 in it for the chop if accepted.

    Edit, acceptance email received.

I have an RBS instant saver account I'd like to switch. I have an account # and sort code #, though to 'switch' (in branch) M&S is requiring the debit card 16 digit number & I don't believe this account comes with a card. If I switch over the phone, is it possible to not need this number?

Failing that, if I want to be eligible for the £100 giftcard, I'll have to switch my long standing RBS current account which I'd rather not do. Is there a way to trick M&S into thinking it's closed but asking RBS to keep it open. I don't mind moving my DD/SO to M&S but to be eligible they require the account I'm switching from to be closed.

    Any advice would be great...?

    Thanks

You can only switch current accounts, not savings accounts. The old current account will be closed.

Open a new dummy current account solely to be used for the switch to m&s. m&s dont require any dirct debits to be switched but its better to have one just in case. You can move one from your real current account before asking m&s to make the switch. m&s do ask how long you have held the account to which I amswerd I dont remember...I dont think the answer actually matters but its a bit strange if you said last week! I found its easy to open an account with natwest...or you can even ask your current bank for a 2nd current account and juat switch that one. ;p

I am interested in switching to the M&S bank account for the incentive, free £100 overdraft and the fact that overdraft beyond that is paid by an interest rate rather than a daily charge.

But my question is: Does it hurt to keep switching? Thanks to Martin and his team I have switched numerous times over the last few years - from Nationwide to Santander to First Direct to Halifax to Santander 123 to Co-op who I am currently with. Made a few hundred quid with no particularly detriment so far as far as I am aware.

I agree with those saying the T&C's with M&S refer to having switched to them before, but it certainly isn't clear.
