Free M&S current account - £100 in M&S vouchers if you switch

I will be phoning them to switch tomorrow. I am switching a Flexdirect account with twenty quid in, and has one so' of a fiver paying in monthly. Will this be sufficient or am I in for "twenty questions" over the phone?

I switched two SOs, but I'm sure one or even none would have done. The people you speak to tomorrow will not talk about what exactly you're switching.


The call will take a long time though (it's a long 'script', read in boring monotone!...with lots of OK?...OK?...OK? after every few sentences. Try not to sound too disinterested when you reply Yes...Yes...Yes to every few sentences), and then they'll send you a 5 page(?) document to read, and then you'll ring them up again and have to listen to more 'script', and then they'll switch your account. And then you'll wait a month for your gift card.

I'll be switching across from a bank account that has no DD/SO, hopefully I'll have no issues in receiving the giftcard

I did that from Nationwide for a 5% account that was now paying 1%. No issues at all.

It's like a gift card / credit card. Spend as much or as little as you like. I bought a £6 cooked chicken using the card. Lovely it was as well! There's about £70 left on it now.

Thanks good to know this. I might go for M&S in addition to Halifax.
Is there any expire date for the GiftCard (voucher) ?
Does it valid for any M&S, e.g. not only supermarket but also online for clothes, home stuffs, etc ?

They last for 24 months after the last transaction. So if you do a transaction every 23 months or so the card never expires.

Anything in store, never tried on line so cannot answer that one sorry.

It says "Your gift card can be used on anything you like in store or online".
