They were no use to me where I was moving, so I removed them all and smashed them to smitherines and left them in a small pile by each window.
I had great pleasure for the next 6 months or so watching them have no curtains and using bits of sheet. Eventually, they got some nice fitted curtains/blinds - which probably cost them about £2k.
Still makes me laugh. One of the best afternoons I ever had, smashing those blinds.
So effectively you smashed up your £2k, rather than thinking your purchase could have least got more use?
All you've done is come across as a vindictive vendor, bravo :T0 -
it was 100% vindictive.
why should the cretins buying my flat get £2k worth of fitted curtains that I paid for for free????
It was win win in the end. I got what I wanted, the satisfaction of smashing them and knowing they couldn't use them - and they got what they wanted, nothing - and the freedom to spend £2k themselves on what was already there.0 -

This makes me sad that there are people that think this a good way to behave.
Oh well - it's you that has to live with yourself being that way...I don't have to run faster than the bear.....I just need to run faster than you!0 -

With all due respect (that means without any respect) you have no idea what you're talking about.
First, I accepted their offer - and then had a higher offer, but refused to take it and didn't ask for the original buyer to match the new offer.
Second - why do you think that someone should get £2k of fitted curtains for free? I paid for them. If they want them, they could have made me an offer. They said they didn't want to buy them but I could just leave them there. Why would I do that? They could have had them for a minimal amount (compared to what it cost them to buy new ones). The problem was, they were youngsters and their dad got involved and he thought he was billy big balls the Master Negotiator. He had to be shown that he wasn't.
I would have taken them with me if I could, but I couldn't. I took the bits I could salvage.
Maybe I should have left them all my personal belongings for free in case they liked something.
They were ungrateful scum. Still, you jump to your conclusions about what sort of person I am.0 -

So, yes - petty vindictiveness, 100%. And you're proud of it.
You had no further use for them. They weren't £2k-worth. They had cost you £2k, but - as used fitted curtains for a size of window you no longer had - they had precisely zero use or value to you.
But, rather than see something be used by somebody else, no - you just destroyed "£2k of fitted curtains" to prove some vacuous shallow point to somebody.
You're my hero, you are.0 -

I work on the assumption that if my buyer wanted any of my stuff they would ask (as is my past experience).
I wouldn't dream of trying to sell my stuff unsolicited to my buyers. If I didn't want to take it with me, or sell it on e-bay, I would leave it FOC.0 -

Love it! Slightly mental but if the buyers are being sufficiently irritating during the purchase, I can see why someone would get satisfaction from this... :rotfl:0 -

Or, to put it another way, why should someone pay you £500k for curtains when they know you don't have a use for them yourself? Maybe your curtains, however expensive, weren't entirely to their taste? Such that they'd be happy to use them on a temporary basis, but look to get new ones once they were settled.
I think it's pretty normal to take the position that you're happy for a seller to leave things they have no use for in their new place, but not want to pay extra for them. The place we're buying has a bunch of old kitchen appliances that they're leaving behind. It's convenient because it means that we don't have to worry about purchasing a fridge etc before we move in. But I certainly wouldn't expect to pay anything for them, particularly as we expect to redo the kitchen after we move in. If the sellers had asked for money for them, I'd have said take them away.0 -

Childish behaviour, if they didn't want to leave the blinds to the purchasers they could have given them to a cancer/other charity to sell..........wouldn't want to be buying a house off White horse, thank goodness my relatives have met decent people like themselves when purchasing their house, they are leaving all the white items, curtains and many other items to this young couple and they are so appreciative as starting off from scratch, there are plenty of decent people out there0
