How to price fixtures & fittings

I'd just throw in the curtains for free if you only think they're worth £10-£20. The appliances I would consider whether you actually wouldn't mind taking them or if you really want to buy new ones and just leave them and price accordingly. No point over-pricing them and then having to take them with you when you'd rather just leave them. We bought a place where the vendor offered his shed for £200 which we weren't too fussed about so told him to take it. He then had to dismantle and remove it which was probably more hassle for him than if he'd priced at £100 and then we'd have probably bought it.I'm proud of my advice, if others want to look I say enjoy the show!0

I'm moving just now and my buyer asked for the curtains and fridge freezer. They're 7 years old and very nice, but I've been looking at them for 7 years so included n the sale.
The people I'm buying from are leaving blinds, most curtains (taking 2 sets), some wardrobes and other items and cooker. All nice to have but I wouldn't have paid much extra for them, although they are huge windows and will cost me a fortune to do the windows. At the end of the day someone else's curtains are just a stop gap until you get your own choices.0 -
I left all my white goods for the new buyer. I was scared they may break down and if buyer had paid for them might expect their money back. The new house had all new items anyway.0

We're pretty good money savers, we'd tailor the curtains to fit the new house if we take them. And trying to become mortgage free so counting every penny towards that, otherwise would just offer it all as part of the deal.0

So you ask the buyers for some money towards them. They say no. What then? You take them? You leave them? If you're going to leave them anyway, why are you asking for money?0

We are leaving all our Curtains included in the sale, they are still available to buy & quite modern, but sizes are no good for the new place, yet the place we are buying (old house) they are taking all their Curtains & the poles/track which is a pain for us on moving day.0

I always leave curtains/blinds in a house for free. Think of the effort you'll save taking them down, folding, packing, lugging etc .... only to shove them in a cupboard at your new place, taking up room, as they don't fit and/or you wanted new ones anyway.
Leave them..... free.0 -
Our sellers took the curtains from every room except one bedroom. We've spent hundreds putting new curtains up, even though we've only bought cheap Dunelm Mill ones. I'd have happily paid £10 a pair for their old ones, which were high quality made to measures.
We were stupid and didn't think to ask when viewing if curtains were included (as they normally are). It was a shock when we got the fixtures and fittings form and saw they weren't.Unfortunately we were buying in a hugely popular area with lots of competition, so no option on re-negotiating due to the lack of curtains.
OP - if you take the poles/tracks down, you should make the walls good and patch the paint afterwards.0 -
We are leaving our made to measure very expensive roman blinds & wooden blinds. What's the point taking them when all we would be doing is taking them with us to store in the loft!0

Not a big effort really - half an hour of someones time to remove and pack.
We took 3 sets of curtains and poles from our old place - altogether we had paid about 300+ quid for them new and didn't want to shell out that much again for no reason. They're now being used in our new house. The prev owners left their curtains but we didn't fancy 'em.
OP, in my opinion, take the curtains if you think you'll need them, but there's not much point in asking 10-20 quid for them - leave them as a good will gesture.0
