Wow, Dave you do realise you are able to get either FTTC and FTTP by the looks of it?

This is your exchange - http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/WWCAMB

You should upgrade to PN Fibre, or if out of contract move to Sky or BT's Fibre package offering.

Just to point out their is nothing wrong with your noise margin. The bigger the number the less noise present on the line.
Noise margin is inversely proportional to line speed, the lower the noise margin number the faster the line speed.
A bb router will try to optimise at the fastest speed at an optimum noise margin, this is normally around 7db.
Get on the plusnet and see what they say.

While that can be true in some instances, in the OP's scenario it can also be because of interference. If the line is consistently dropping, BT's profiling system will increase the noise margin thinking his line is un-stable (because it is).. If the noise margin could decrease to the usually expected 6 dB area, his speeds will increase.

Although he does need at least for now to be put on an ADSL2+ profile rather than old ADSL. Then upgrade to fibre!! :D

As far as I can tell its not, rather he is having problems with his WiFi, I don't think he had said there is a problem with his Ethernet connection. No pint in fttc with a line capable of 16 Mbps, unless multiple users, or a whole lot of downloads going on
That gum you like is coming back in style.

    Hi diamond dave,

I'm sorry to hear your issues are still ongoing.

Has there been any progress on this? We normally get updates from REIN cases on Thursdays so we should know in the next 24-48hrs if we can rule this out completely or not. Please update the fault ticket you have open with any information that may help our Faults team resolve this matter for you.

Hi Linn K, thanks for getting in touch. There is no REIN problem according to the engineer. The connection is stable for the moment so I'm not sure what the next move is. I don't have a problem with just the wi-fi- it's exactly the same using ethernet cable.

    Hi diamond dave,

Thanks for getting back to me. Can you provide me with your fault ticket ID and I can have a read through that and I can then liaise with our Faults team regarding the next step.

Hi Linn K - the initial fault no. is 82087680 & 830885870 and has been on going since Feb.13th 2014. Tony Thompson started dealing with it some weeks ago but there still appears to be a problem( Connection dropped @ 11.05 this am.) It is not a REIN problem(according to the engineers) so I am baffled. Hope that you can help.

Thank you for getting back to me.

I've gotten in touch with Tony and he's said to update Ticket: 85549286 with any further information and he's also asked our suppliers to investigate this further. Please add any information that may help on the ticket and he'll pass this on to our suppliers.
