Congratulations on your recent wedding and hope you have a lovely honeymoon, good progress made already on your debt have you thought about posting an SOA so the forum can help you to look at your expenses.
Fingers crossed you get a pay rise, my hubby chatted to his bosses for ages about being on the same scales as other technicians luckily he finally got it last month.
I've heard about companies monitoring the finances of employees before, feels a bit invasive to me but I suppose there are some industries where this is necessary. I agree if you showed them a budget they may see this as a positive step.

Hi Chrysalis and welcome
Yes I agree waiting until year end for chat like your hubby did is a good idea. Im here for the long term so cant really complain!
I have done a SOA thank you (see posts from March) and am working on cutting down food bills, will reduce phone when I can and trying to keep note of all 'little' spends that truly add up!
The whole finance thing is a horrid thing to do with your employer, especially when the see that although I am not in a negative that the only reason is the £8k of shares they gave me recently!! (makes big difference added to assets means that after debt I am positive £3k!!!)
Living and working in London is expensive but its all about being more careful and prioritising and having lots of NSDs.
Thanks to everyone for reading x

Morning all
A very busy day today before a day off for the wedding tomorrow!
I had not only a NSD yesterday but also found £1 on the way to work... amazing
Although I did have a chat with my little bro who is graduating in July and he would really like me to go and that means a £50 min train fare.. OMG!! But I will save up.
Worked out also we still need £750 for the honeymoon... plus spends. That means a hugely tight budget until October. But at least in Oct one of my loans is finished so another £155.01 to put towards other debt yay! Plus I really could do this bonus at work.. I wish they would just let me know hanging on and hoping is driving me crazy!
Also, does anyone else find friends are either completely up for the money saving or just try to destroy it? Some are like of course lets go to yours have pasta and cheap wine, others are like 'cant we just go to P!zza 3press and a voucher? It'll only be £10'. My wonderful husband does not earn as much as their other halfs (all earn £50k) plus no debts... never mind it just upsets me and I feel like I am missing out? But then I guess thats why I got into this mess in the first place... trying to keep up with others!
Hope you are all well thank you to everyone for reading / commenting. This journey is a toughie. But I am staying happy xx

Well done on finding the pound! At least you only need £49 now for the Graduation :rotfl:.
Are you sure your friends have no debts? I've found it a real eye opener since our money situation changed dramatically, how many others are in a mess too, they just never admitted it (especially to themselves!) before XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Morning all!
What a weekend - we spent a b***dy fortune on Friday train fares etc, but it was fun. Very different wedding not very MSE but never mind. Did well with the drinks wasn't too bad.
Saturday we had the i-laws over (so much fun to call them that!!) and then yesterday an amazing show at the Old Vic performed in the round. It was amazing!
Belts tightened this week and the comings weeks, although mum up this weekend and down next weekend for Fathers day!! Then seeing other family... its an expensive month!! Never mind. Hope you are all good. xxxx

morning all
I feel dreadful this morning. Im not sure what is wrong.
Perhaps its the fact I feel like I cannot keep up with my peers? Not just in the money sense but in other ways. I feel although I never show it, inadequate compared with others.
I shall spend 5 minutes today thinking happy thoughts and then boom I am sure I will feel much better.
