For those of us that still use MS Money for tracking portfolios etc -
There is some new software, developed by an ex-MS Money programmer, that restores the ability to update share and fund prices automatically. It costs $10, and there is a free trial version (30 updates limit).
The Beta test users have included people from the UK, and, from their reports, it appears to work well.

Interesting. I must give it a go when I get the chance, although I'm still using Money 2000 so it might not work for me.
Any idea if it pulls back historical prices, or just the prices for the day it's run on?0 -
Does it also update UK funds?0

That's fantastic news. I'll download and try it now!Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

You can download a free version of 2005 from here

That will upgrade your 2000 version. I did it with mine and it all works just fine and doesn't need any licence or payment. Now trying out the quotes downloaderRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

It looks like it is just for the day it is run.
Based on the comments from the developer on their site it might be something he would look to add.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

Got it all working on my version of MS Money and all looks good. Funds and shares updated with latest prices.
However, it does look like you may need to update the codes used to the latest versions of them.
eg for Aberdeen Emerging markets I originally had it as 332281 which worked fine on the old MS Money to get prices but not on this new version. I checked on Hl and the code looks like it is now GB0033228197. I put that in and the prices updated automatically for it so looks like I have a task to update them all. If it enables prices automatically then that will be worth the effort.
Thanks to Paul at Gaier software for doing this and to Chickaree for bringing it to out attention.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

Yes, I have tried this in the past, but I've just always preferred the 2000 version - its look and feel, and the fact that it's not full of buttons and links that bounce you to dead MSN Money web pages.
Of course if there was some critical piece of functionality that only existed in 2005 then I might shift over (eg auto funds updating) but as I only have 3 funds to track along with the FTSE100 index, I'll probably just keep doing them manually for now. I only do it once a week anyway, entering the values after close of play on a Friday.

And it seems to update the quotes more quickly than the original program did. Thanks, Mr Gaier.0
