So you ignored my first lot of advice then? Not surprised. Be embarrassed but not too much and embrace the drunken antics. Tis the british way. Laugh about it together and go from there. Then remember your limts and stick to them.

I don't think you have blown it, if he hated it that much I don't think he would have spoken to you at all.

Just speak to him and apologise if you think that will make you feel better but you don't need to. My DH view is he would rather I was plastered after a drinking game than able to hold it as that would show I was a hard drinker!! :rotfl:not the type he would want to be with so it might have been a plus...just take a deep breath and speak to him.

Just as an aside, one of the earliest memories from me and my husband is having to carry him seven miles home because one of the drinks had disagreed with him (he'd only had a few and could normally take a few more!) and no taxi would accept him! We laugh about it now, and we laughed about it then!

OP "chunder" means to be sick - "chunderbolt" is a play on the word "thunderbolt, which are very fast strikes of lightening.

so - by calling you a chunderbolt he means because you ran off quickly to be sick but didn't quite make it.

sounds like he was tryng to make light of it to me, and the fact that he put you in a taxi shows that he was concerned for you.

sounds like he wasn't put off, try to laugh it off and see if he wants to go out again, but avoid jagerbombs! (that sounds like what you were drinking)

  • When I was younger my speciality was to down a pint of Guinness in one. At Uni I was showing off this skill in a new club I had just joined. I was desperate to be accepted and to make friends. Someone brought me a tall glass with a greenish liquid in it and dared me to down it in one (this is after downing 3 pints of Guinness in one go). I did and a girl hauled me off to the bathroom. I remember her begging me to be sick and telling me that the drink had 8 vodkas in it.

After that I just get flashbacks. Like looking at my shoes with sick on them. Apparently I was driven back to the student halls where someone got a male friend of mine. He hauled me to my room, got me a drink of water and left me to it.

I felt bloody awful the next day! All the students had seen the state I was in. There was nothing else to do but man up and take the stick. I got up, got dressed, spewed up in the sink and then, looking as casual as I could, I walked past my gawping flat sharers and into class.

Most people felt sympathy with me, most had experienced similar themselves. As for the club. I went back the next week with my head held high and gained a lot of respect for doing so.

I don't see the point in hiding. Who hasn't made a fool of themselves at some point?

Hold your head high. You had fun - so what? Apologise if you need to, thank him for looking out for you. Laugh about it. He will have his own stories to tell - trust me.

Next time, limit yourself. Have fun by all means but bow out of any drinking games. After all, it's not so much the embarassment that you need to fear but your own safety.

I agree; I think it was quite a sweet, light-hearted way of asking if you were ok. I think he'd have been very clear that he was unimpressed and wanted nothing more to do with you if that were the case.

I'd be inclined to just apologise, thank him for getting you home safely and grin "Well I won't be doing THAT again in a hurry!" and smile about it together.

Nobody's 100% perfect, and he probably appreciates that you can be relied on to not be always uptight and reserved.

I'll put my hand up and say that I've been in situations like this once or twice... :o

Usain Chunderbolt; that's SO funny. Hope things turn out OK. xx

My husband got drunk and threw up, on an early date with me. We still laugh about it 15 years later. :)
