The first time I stayed over at my boyfriends house (now husband) I threw up all over myself, while I was naked (don't ask!) and he had to clean me up!! We have been together for 20 years so I'm happy to report that it worked out.

I reckon you should go for it too! Good luck, I've really enjoyed reading your threads :-)

Loads of people do. I've posted between 1.00 and 2.00 a.m. myself.

But it is the only time she posts. I am still deeply suspicious that this is remotely genuine...but it is entertaining and not harming anyone and I for one am happy to play along :D

I'm going to let him know how I feel about him and I have nothing to worry about if he says no, because at least I tried. He won't laugh at me either and will let me down in a dignified way, that is if he says no to me, because he is British, and British people are awesome!
Now hold your horses little lady!

It's a bit soon to get so full on and intense with him. Never force the issue...just let things happen naturally.

There's a huge cultural difference between us when it comes to drinking. One of my best mates is American, and when he lived in the U.K. for a while, he was stunned by the amount British girls normally drink on a night out. So let's get the measure of this guy before making any declarations of undying affection...

As has already been said, it's time to apologise for what happened. Tell him you're not accustomed to drinking so much and that you're hugely embarassed by how the night ended. Then ask him if you could both try to have another night out together as you really enjoyed his company and see what he suggests. This way, you can see if he's put you in the 'friends zone', which isn't a bad place to begin a long lasting relationship.

My OH doesn't drink, but always tells people he's the designated driver and I'm the designated drinker. ;)

If you want more embarassing stories, one of my male friends always strips off when he's really drunk. We used to leave the pub 5mins after him so that we could follow him home and collect his abandoned clothes in the street.
Another female friend has this peculiar urge to show everyone that she's wearing matching bra and knickers and how pretty they are. This usually happens a couple of minutes before she collapses into a deep sleep.

'Bladdered' and 'ralfed like a dog':-
Please don't use these terms in polite company! There is British slang and there is British slang!

(I was once on holiday in Italy where the Italian rep, who spoke good English, told a group on an excursion that the coach would soon be stopping at a service station where we could get off and buy a drink or 'have a quick slash')

Well, I thought ' bladdered' was a more polite term, on a forum, than pi**ed lol

I know, from my American DIL, that English slang, and particularly London slang, can be hard to follow!

    • She may have a second job and so doesn't get home till late.
    • She may live with family who need to use the computer for homework, so she may not get a chance to use it until late.
    • She may like to cook, then eat, then watch TV before diving into the forum.
#She may be an insomniac, and finds that reading our posts is soporific.

I have read through every reply and so many of you have done what I did. Someone mentioned culture differences and they are right. I feel like I committed social suicide, but to you all this is acceptable. Now I have just realized avoiding him is making me look bad. :(

My mom always said to me to seize the moment and I have fallen for this guy. Since I first met him, I have lost 11 lbs. I'm now down to 147 lbs :) I so want to seize the moment with him, because he is the first guy I've ever came across who is respectful and charming to me. If he was American, he would have thought line dancing was for nerds and wouldn't be seen dead with me in a bar. Speaking to you all and reading your life stories has made me realize that I'm not going to get him by hiding myself away. I have done this all my life. Now it's time to stop it and do as my mom said to me and seize the moment. I'm going to let him know how I feel about him and I have nothing to worry about if he says no, because at least I tried. He won't laugh at me either and will let me down in a dignified way, that is if he says no to me, because he is British, and British people are awesome!

As one definitely old enough to be your mum, I really wouldn't assume that ALL British guys will be nice in a dignified way - I would just chill, and be less intense, to be honest!

From my American DIL, I do realise that there is a massive difference between Brits and Yanks - I send up her 'intensity' and analysis about everything (jeez, no wonder therapists do so well over there lol) and she finds my laisser-faire attitude strange! :T

However, she can welly back the Pinot Grigio with me and the best of them lol

The onky thing is with her is that when we went out, I couldn't understand why bar staff were falling over themselves to serve her, and ignoring me - turned out, she thought it was like America and had been tipping the bar staff every time she got served...

But, play it cool with him, and apply some humour, laugh at yourself and what you did!

:rotfl: well, I wouldn't say bladdered to my boss, or the vicar, or my elderly aunt, or a potential boyfriend who I was trying to impress!

I have a Wigan accent which means I sometimes need an interpretor. :D
The classic put down from my OH's Greek mum was... "I speak perfect English, but I can't understand a word that SHE says!" :(
