Australia doesn't have an open door policy
Australia has twice the rate of immigration of the UK. Employment rates are higher, GDP growth is higher and the weather is better.
I leave you to decide where the causal links are.
The UK doesn't have an 'open door' policy either or at least no more than St Albans has traditionally had for people from Hartford. People from the broader economy (the EU) are free to work where they like. I took advantage of these laws to work in France as a young man.
People from outside the EU face much tougher immigration laws to get into the UK than people outside Australia face getting into Australia.0 -

I've no idea what this means or you are trying to say : but do note that supply and demand only determine price in certain circumstances0 -

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe it is very difficult for a penniless, unskilled, illiterate individual with little grasp of English to get into Australia legally.0 -
Really...? Except Government diktat there is nothing else. I'd be interested to understand your idea which is set to overturn economic theory.
Water?
We don't get charged more when there is a drought.
And we don't get charged less when reservoir overflow gates are opened to control the excess.0 -

google words like 'monopoly', 'cartel', 'government '
or you'll find it all explained in more detail in first year economics textbooks
only where there is a free market of multiple independent sellers and multiple independent buyers does supply and demand determine price.0 -

Hmmmmm...
My water rates have increased Year on Year.
I understood that is why many are considering water meters to show consumption.:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach.

Thank you for the pointer. I'll be sure to look out an economics textbook some time.0
