Yes it's militant, but can't you put a bed of nails on your drive while building something with wood and just not park on it for a few days? The tyre bill is then theirs, and they then did it to themselves?
Accepted, you might have it done to you in return later.

My neighbour across the road had a similar problem where people kept parking across her driveway so her family had difficulty getting their cars in and out.

Firstly, she called the local parking enforcement people, who were very prompt to turn up and issue parking tickets. This went on for some time. Eventually, she went to the local Councillor who arranged for a white line to be painted on the road next to her dropped kerb. This seems to have solved the problem (but it did take many months to get it sorted out).

As an aside, the people who were parking across her drive were neighbours opposite her. They did not wish to park in their own driveway as they wanted passers-by to be able to see the plants in their front garden!

If you are thinking of getting help from your local Councillor, it is good to do this just before the local elections (i.e. NOW). Tney are not really interested unless they think there is a vote in it for them. So, choose whichever Councillor you think will get in in your area and talk to them, and tell them you will vote for them if they help. Also contact parking enforcement at your local council to issue tickets until the problem is sorted out. This will only work if they park across your drive (on the public highway), not if they are parked on your drive.

That too was obstruction of the highway.

If someone is parked legally on the road (close enough to the kerb, facing right way, not obstructing an entrance, taxed and insured) there is nothing anyone can do about it unless the vehicle is abandoned (which is for the police to decide). They cannot say do not park opposite my drive etc.

It was not obstruction of the highway. I had enough space for two cars on my drive. They had parked on my drive, and I was parked on my drive behind them. As far as I am concerned I was legally parked on my own land.

Yes, they seriously gave this as a reason! They are not the only house on the road that uses this reason, but most of the others do not park across dropped kerbs.

Well I tried to approach the driver but ended up getting to a prolonged shouting match and being told to watch my back.

I intend to jetwash the fence today.

And I am now parking accross my own drive as it apperas to be the done thing.

    Hey you,

Have you looked at my thread? I had/still sometime have similar issue to you however I registered with my council and my driveway can now be enforced. My problem has reduced quite a lot compared to how it was before. I know who parks outside my driveway but I was tired of asking them not to park and couldn't be bothered to ring their door bell each time... These days I just ring council and the CEO comes in his scooter in 15 mins and tickets the car. I don't know of they're allowed to tow the car away but i'll ask them that.

Can you tell us your council name so we can see if your council does similar thing?

Did they give a reason for parking in your drive?

Round Up to the rescue time in that road by the sound of it.....

How bloomin' ridiculous indeed to say that. Did they manage to keep a straight face whilst coming out with that?;)

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you meant you had parked on the road in front of the drive.
