Yes LIL, a combi. We're also going for the wireless thermostat, although we politely turned down their offer of an OTT one that connects to my phone etc. etc. :D

Got all of our replacement socket covers and light switches through, brushed chrome, very nice. Also picked up a couple of external LED lights (not those horrible things with a sensor that blind the neighbours' cat, just a couple of discreet lights to make opening the door a bit easier).

Just had £50 added to my Funding C1rcle account, think that was a referral to OCC? If so, thanks!

    Excellent :)

Have just been referred for another FC-type website based in Scotland (yay!) £150 rewards for investing £1,000 before the end of November, hopefully £15 on top from the person who referred me.

I am not as diversified as I'd like, but it's a newer platform and the effective cashback of 16.5% should help to cancel the blow of even 2-3 total defaults  From what I can see, their loans are all amortising as well, so I can diversify into new loans each month as payments come in from the others.

Current P2P total is £11,980.42 @ 12.61% after fees and tax. The rate looks a lot better than it is, referral bonuses are a significant factor at this point :j

Electrical works to house will cost roughly £2,000 - oh joy! Still, worse than my feared scenario of a rewire, which would have added at least another £1,000.

Apologies for being a bit !!!! and not commenting on other diaries over the last month or so, I am just about holding down life/work/sanity/house :o

Ed you might want to reconsider the phone thingy for the heating. DD reckons it's going to save her quite a bit - instead of the heating on a timer to come on at x time every night she can just switch it on when she knows she is going home either straight from work, after shopping or meeting friends etc.

Crikey, well impressed with the speed you're getting things done!
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I think that might work very well for your DD as a young worker, but we are spookily predictable in our heating needs as a young familly!

There's a bit in the early morning where DD gets up when it needs to be warm and there's a bit before she goes to bed when it needs to be warm. I'm thinking something like two cycles of 0700-0930 and 1730-2100, with the thermostat set to come on at a temperature that is unlikely to trigger (say only on at less than 18 degrees celsius). Once we replace floorings ambient temperature will likely go up by a degree or so, not hoping to use our fancy new boiler too much! :rotfl:

Anything more complicated than that is unlikely and if we're away, we'll just turn it off.
  • Iv got mine to come on if the temp drops below 8 deg but iv always had mine set to come on manually

I have a temp gauge in 4 areas of the house and seems so far the house sitting at around 13-15deg most of the time

Either way ed in the long term it will be more efficient and save you money
    :]

Quite a big rewire job to ed that but i know some of the old wiring can be a right nightmare

in my place all the upstairs light switches where behind the doors haha so had a full rewire myself just feels a lot better knowing its all pukka
