V1rgin up and running and I'm liking it already (well, despite the router falling over a minute ago :p) We're getting 5x faster broadband than with Sk@y. So fast in fact, that it's higher than the advertised maximum!

You know this will make them p2p loans go thro quicker now so you never miss out on one hehe :]

Yesterday took a run Loch Lomond way and went through a hail storm on low ground, slightly higher was a dust covering and at the top of "the rest and be thankful" there was about 2" lying. Gorgeous, Beautiful scenery :)
    So not too far away.

Snow in Spain :snow_grin - saw it in the Sierra Nevada peaks when we flew over the other day :snow_laug
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

  • I broke our bathroom sink a few years ago by knocking a China toothbrush holder into it. So I second that point about no open shelves!
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

Oven and hob added to the list of things to replace. Hob is just crap, oven burns every meal, I have gone from cooking hero to incinerator, don't like it.

Thanks everyone re. the snow update; Mrs K is going up there for work Mon-Weds, we weren't sure whether she'd need the LR or not.

We've recently swapped our internet provider from BT (been with them for over 10 years) to Sky. We can't get cable or the superfast broadband but so far we're pleased with them. BT did try to take their 12 months line rental, though.
    2018 totals:
    Savings £11,200
    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500

Oh dear, sorry to hear that the list of things to replace is increasing..... Did you have a budget for all of this or is it a bit of a surprise?

We didn't budget for cooker or hob, no. In this instance, my pessimism is riding to the rescue, we're about £650 'up' after my initial estimates for roofer/tree surgeon, sure we can replace both for less than that :)

Boiler being replaced with the apparent Rolls Royce of the boiler world on Thursday :j Quote about £600 lower than expected, although there will be a lot to do (drain and cap cold water tank, remove hot water tank, remove old boiler, brick up old flue, drill new flue, install boiler, remove floorboards to extend pipe to meter).
