I am, but im sure they cover the whole country if that's why you're asking.

If they don't do up as far as you then I'm sure they will be able to recommend a good / fair company

  • Hiya Ed, re: bathrooms.

I worked for a guy who installed them once upon a time and reckon it's well worth having a look around to see if you can find any recommendations for sourcers/installers.

He had trade accounts with suppliers so was sourcing great quality stuff (cheaper than prices online) and would pass a large amount of the savings on to customers, not only to secure the job, but he wanted to give them value for money too (may be worth looking for a fairly newly started business as they might do similar?).

I know you will, but do research sanitaryware as it's often worth paying a fraction more for much better quality. Especially if you don't want to spend the next ten or twenty years being annoyed at what you chose (or worse yet, having to replace shoddy stuff - it happens!)

Also, re: price, £3-5k was pretty standard for a bathroom project. There's more specialist jobs/materials involved than people realise, so it does add up.

Ps. Jealous of the rugby tickets. :p

No Alex, it's not snowing here :)

I second this! Took me ages to find - years of dodgerama - but I now (touch wood) have people I really trust - that's why I'd always (after having done my own research) be open to contractor sourcing. I reckon mine pass on their whole discount (they are very established but have never had to advertise as get all their work by word of mouth because they are actually decent and trustworthy so win win :T) but if they do get a bit of it and it still costs me same as it would have if I sourced, fine by me …

Above sink, I'm a fan of cabinet with a mirror on the front so multi-use, but then again I have a tiny bathroom (and I'm guessing from Frankenshower yours isn't) ;)

  • Hi Ed,

First time I've posted on your thread, but have been reading for ages with great interest.

Re a new bathroom - we chose and sourced all the "stuff" - toilet, bath etc and then told contractors what we wanted. Said if they could get it at a better price would split the difference with them. They managed it on most items and we both benefited.
  • Went grocery shopping this morning, managed to leave the car light on again, the battery charger I bought is the best hedge against my forgetful nature ever.

Find it hard to believe you are forgetful watching your meticulous attention to P2P and the like … but Most Shocking Behaviour re car light does make me think it's just as well Ace is dark if jaunty tuneful, 'cos who knows what you'd have managed to leave on otherwise :rotfl:

V1rgin up and running and I'm liking it already (well, despite the router falling over a minute ago :p) We're getting 5x faster broadband than with Sk@y. So fast in fact, that it's higher than the advertised maximum!
