Ah, the steady drip drip drip of EA tension.

Just received a phone call to say that someone else has expressed interest in the house that we're considering offering on. Not particularly worried, it's a nice house, but I won't be crying if we don't get it.

I basically asked them to call me back if anything changes materially (i.e. it goes to closing). I know it's their business, but I strongly suspect that it stresses a lot of people out.

    Second viewing this evening.
  • Any offers on yours yet? Not quite sure how it works up there.

One (informal) offer at home report value, which we rejected as it was the first viewing. Three other viewers have intimated that they will probably make offers (will believe them when they're received). Apparently offers are usually very last minute in an environment where the mythical 'offers over' is in play...

Hope to close before the weekend.

Closing Friday at noon, have now found two houses we like :)

Both similar vintage (70s), both in pretty good shape (one move in condition, but is mid terraced with v. small garden in very nice area, one needs a bit of work, but end terrace with more garden space and nice area).

Agreed. Currently thinking energy efficient retrofit (boiler/floor insulation/solar/downlights where they will look appropriate). Speaking to solicitor today to note interest.
  • Can't believe how quickly things are moving! The Scottish system seems so much fairer and more efficient than the one we have south of the border. Hope it continues to go so well for you :)
