Don't think we'll ever agree about public transport ... I can count on one hand the amount of times I've used it (not counting steam train rides with son or planes) and see it as stressful and inconvenient.
I used to feel like that alex, but a couple of years ago I took the plunge and got on a bus for a night out with dh, fantastic! Door to door service to the pub virtuallyand don't get me started on the free entertainment included on a late night fenchurch line train home - aka the "vomit comet" :rotfl:
MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Don't get me wrong Alex, I think public transport is a necessary evil that is good for the planet and my pocket.
I don't like being crammed onto a steamy bus with no windows first thing in the morning surrounded by my fellow commuters with their varying degrees of personal hygiene any more than the next person
That said, it's probably no worse than sitting with my foot on the clutch as I inch though rush hour traffic into a city of 1 million+ people in my own car.
At least buses (and trains) can make the same trip faster.0 -
Think about flu season with public transport, thats all I'd say
Ed - all those viewings and offers! Amazing!

Thanks Goldie, not looking forward to 7 viewings tomorrow. Eyes on the prize and all that :coffee:0

I think if I were to buy again I'd also go for nearer to work. Our inlaw childcare has become less and less used as the children go to nursery at aged 2 or 3 for the mornings, and oh has them in the afternoon. If the inlaws help us out, they are not travelling at rush hour, just lunch time and early afternon.
Congrats on the offers and good luck! x15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

And if in-laws want to help, they will. I've mentioned the little Anglo-French great nephew who lives in London, yes? My brother's ex wife (the littl'un's granny) takes the train from Liverpool to London one night every week to stay overnight and help with the babysitting. That's extreme, to be sure ...2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Yes, but I would do it to keep contact with my grandson. It is more than just babysitting. XxPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Hope viewing going wellMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0
