Haha - it can totally be seen in profile sitting above the laptop in our study (the slate heart) :rotfl:

The room was so stripped back that the small decorative touch does no harm.

    Here's hoping.

Up to [STRIKE]9[/STRIKE] 7 :) (misunderstood message from Mrs E, it really shows my impatience that *only* having 7 arranged in a day annoys me :o)

Well, we got back up to nine and we had our first two viewings. One couple seemed largely positive, one girl seemed slightly more hesitant. I believe all of the original viewers were currently FTBs, so a wee bit more caution is probably a good thing (for them, and for us)?

I had a cursing fit twenty minutes before the first couple arrived - had been trying to fit a memo board to cover a wee bit of wonky paint and the plaster cracked around one of the fittings. A botched coverup left the brackets in place, although the crack can't be seen :o

I am very much Homer Simpson when it comes to DIY, I need Alex to come up and fix some stuff for me!

    Three more tonight.

Sounding good Ed, hope you didn't have the windows open when you were cussing or the viewers might have thought it was nasty neighbours :D.

DIY and bad taste Police here ...

I can see why you don't really want a project, Ed. ;) As for the slate heart, it's not a good look. On another note, 9 viewings is seriously impressive.

Something else to consider, do you really need to be in the city or would you get better value by moving 10-15 miles out of the city? It would mean you and Mrs Ed having a small commute but would that be the end of the world? Also, maybe your daughter would be able to grow up near to some fields. :)

    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500

Dear Alex, you are a cheeky monkey :p

I am glad that you have appointed yourself as the official arbiter of taste, it was a position that had remained sadly vacant in the small town of Edinburgher. I imagine your home to be along the lines of Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, another style guru?

I now believe the heart to be talismanic and will carry it with me throughout the world.

DIY does not appear to be my thing and that frustrates me. I research the correct tools for the job, I don't skimp on tools or materials, I measure up carefully, apply the recommended techniques THEN SUDDENLY IT ALL GOES WRONG!!!! :rotfl:

We have no objection to moving out of the city, but there are the stresses of commuting, costs and the environmental impacts to consider. Our inlaw babysitter lives near the city, so we can't go too far out. In terms of stress, we would be looking at commuting at rush hour, which is pretty grim in our neck of the woods. In terms of costs, it would be roughly double public transport.

    12 viewings and counting.
