We're just potty training youngest son at 2yrs 9months. That's about 3 months later than originally planned for a variety of reasons. He was sorted within a few hours for daytime, so just night time to sort now.

Update - youngest has just got up and he's dry on night 2. We're convinced that the extra 3 months has made it so much easier! Hindsight a a lovely thing!

So results vary. Niece was done and dusted before 3.

Night nappies no issue, I was just worried about childcare nappies, IYSWIM.

I think peoples definitions of "potty trained" vary too.

I once read a 1930s book on child rearing that reccommended holding your six week old over a tiny potty as you can never start too early...WTH??
  • MiniOCC was outof nappies at 2 3/4 ish and was very early Compared to his friends, he was totally dry day and at night by then. Has probably had 10 accidents since (2 of which were in the last couple of months!).

It was lucky as he was already filling the biggest size baby nappies by then!

We started balancing him on the loo from about 3 months a couple of times a day and he soon learnt to have both number 1 and 2 on there without trying so it was easy peasy to potty train. As a bonus we hardly ever had pooie nappies to change!

I'd say expect to have nappies until 3 in your calculations bring realistic.

Another top kid tip is to count up stairs. We did this from birth and as soon as he could speak he knew numbers 1-13 (we had 13 stairs at home!)

Well now I feel like a lightweight. I fell sleep on the sofa at 8:30pm watching tv. I don't have a newborn!

Work will be ok Ed, is Mrs E just planning a quiet day?
