So the "idiot" who cut in front of you leaving about 2 to 3 car lengths gap, wasn't actually increasing that gap as he passed you going 10 mph faster then? You said yourself that the road ahead was clear so it wasn't as if the "idiot" was likely to be going to brake sharply was it?

Regardless of whether they're goign to brake sharply or not. I don't like the idea of driving at 70mph with a car just 15 meters ahead of me. If the other vehicle does have to brake for whatever reason - tyre blowout, bash for cash, cambelt failure - causes pistons to jam and decelerate fast - that would endanger my life and the life of others.

I drive 80-90 in some cases. That's fine, if you're going to do that don't cut in. Other times when I don't have any urgency I like to conserve fuel and put the car on cruise control - it annoys the hell out of me when I have to brake just cos someone doesn't know how to overtake safely.

I haven't replied because I'm sick of the abuse. Lorry is limited at 60mph. I'm doing 70 so I was in the middle lane.

To 90% of the idiots above that makes me a middle lane hogger.

The fact that the other car was doing 80+ and the lane 3 was completely empty and could carry on driving on it for 5 miles without any issues, yet decided to cut in immediately in front of me is not a problem at all.

    !!!! you all

So he's doing 10mph more than you, yet you still panic enough that you can't find the brake?

It's hard to believe that you haven't chosen to stop driving, but you really should. You obviously have a shirt fuse, too, which perhaps contributes to your problems.

Please, have some more lessons, or stop driving. You will kill someone one day if you keep heading out while not competent.

Why do you bother to post? Honestly how is anything you posted constructive or helpful? Just don't bother replying if you do not have anything useful to say.

twice now you've said I'm a danger on the road and going to kill someone. In the same thread too.

I guess the people on this thread who just admitted to circling "middle lane hoggers" and leaving a tiny room as a "punishment" are not a danger at all or you've deliberately opted to ignore those comments and just pick on me.

In that case this is bullying behaviour.

You may not like it, but i'm afraid that's motorway driving for you. I find that I have to sometimes go on the defensive when such situations occur but I am experienced enough to know who to handle it. Motorways are the safest roads to drive on when used properly. Unfortunately there are a lot of drivers who simply havn't got a clue how to use them. So it's left to the more competent drivers amongst us to 'drive' for them.

I don't want to be doing 70 on a motorway and when overtaking a lorry find the moron in front of me slamming the brakes on because a car has pulled in 15 metres ahead - that's dangerous!

If you have cruise on, next time it happens, if you're really worried, just hit the cancel button, you'd be amazed how quick a car slows down under engine braking at that speed.

But you'll be pulling back into lane 1 anyway. And other car is going 10mph quicker, so leaving your cruise on will still see the gap quickly increase again.

Motorway driving is not just about the road ahead of you, it's also about how your actions affect those behind you too...

As has been said many times now.

If you panic when you need to brake then its you that has the problem

Cruise control is easy to cancel and the car slows imediately without braking.

On another point I always thought using cruise control increases fuel consumption but I may be wrong

Most lorries are limited to 56 so never reach 60.

What motorway were you on? I've never seen one with a five mike straight and wouldn't know if I could see it to be clear that far.

It would have been better if you remained silent and not come back with a bite. But then folk like you are entertaining and your previous makes for good reading.

Were you trigger in a previous role?
