I have one of those cats too Derek, and mine is a she!
Not a lot you can do about it really, apart from extra checks for scratches, anything that looks infected etc.
I don't know what kind of access he has to the outside, and personally don't believe in letting cats wander as they please. Mine goes out when I say and gets called in before her dinner at the latest.
If you are really worried then maybe cutting down his outside time might be a way forward.0 -
My old cat used to be top boss in the street. My neighbour said he saw him regularly stroll across the street to pick a fight with another cat he didn't like. Wasn't like that at home, butter wouldn't melt in his mouth he was such a softy with us.
My current girl is being chased by a couple of big boy cats (don't know if they've been done or not), fortunately she's much faster than they are and they haven't caught her yet.
There's not much you can do TBH. We chase off the boys as much as possible to discourage them coming into our garden, but cats will do what cats do.Make £2025 in 2025

My cat is also a bit of a bully - surprising really as he's much smaller than you're average tom and a cuddly teddy bear when he's at home.
When we first started letting him out he was coming home covered in scratches, patches of hair missing etc. But now he's established himself as the Scarface of the neighbourhood he doesn't need to get physical so much - other cats don't dare walk through our garden any more.
There's not much you can do about it other than maybe shut him in at night, cats have their own complex social world that we can never really understand and if they're going to fight then they're going to fight.0 -
We've always aimed to keep our cats in at night. There's foxes in the neighbourhood and of course they are harder for drivers to see at night.Make £2025 in 2025

First Cat Timmy was the scourge of the street! ALL the dogs and cats were scared of him! and he WASNT a sweety at home either. I loved him though!0

Sometimes I don't think I'm cut out for this cat thing... Derek hasn't been seen at all today, and I'm stressing out in a major way...
I was down in Essex, only got back about 4pm; OH was on a night shift last night, when he got home at about 8.30 this morning Derek's food bowl was empty but he was nowhere to be seen, and the food OH put down when he got home is untouched...
I hate when he's out this long, I've just spent the best part of an hour traipsing the streets making clicking noises like some enormous loon.
I just stress out too much for this, for every hour I'm happy and content with him I must spend another hour in a state of panic like this
It's 8 o'clock, where the hell is my cat! :eek:0 -
They often go missing for long periods of time, although i think they do it more when they are younger.
I am a cat owner and i hate it to be honest, scratched wall paper, poo, wee, cat grit everywhere, cat food on the kitchen floor, the smell of cat food, the hair on everything.
How do you keep cat hair off your socks???? and clothes in general??
I love him though and will give him a good life but when he's gone i'll never have another one.0 -
