Well so far so good...! I lock the cat flap between 7 and 8 because after that is Family Time for Derek, although last night at about half nine I realised I hadn't seen him in a while then realised I'd left the kitchen window slightly open... yep he was gone! He came back though before I started making the Lost Cat posters :-p
It's lovely lying in the garden and hearing the thud that means he's jumped onto the bins on the other side of the fence - 3 seconds later he appears on top of the fence then jumps into the garden and comes for a cuddle.
Here is he during last nights family time:
And about ten minutes ago - at least he's facing me now! Please excuse the feet :-)0 -
Aww, look at that lovely white patch on Derek's tummy. Does he let you stroke his tummy now? He certainly knows that he's got it made as part of your family!
Thanks for the photos.Whoops there goes another year, there goes another pint of :beer:0 -
When I stroke his tummy he goes for my arm, but not in a vicious way if you know what I mean, it seems more playful0

My Giz does that - sorta holds my arm with his paws but no claws. the best time to get access to his tum is in the mornings when he's still dozing - he rolls over and stretches and stays in that position for a short while.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500 -
I think as you've probably figured out by now, when you have a cat who goes outside at your decision only, needing to be more careful with windows etc is a good idea.
It's hard sitting with them only cracked in the summer (ours can lock into place in the frame when cracked) but that's what some of us cat owners have to do lol.
That or shut them out of the room you have the window open. Very rarely the kitchen here though since her litter and food is all in there (we have a double kitchen/kitchen dining area in essence) and I don't like to restrict access. But we often shut her out of the living room and have the door/window open, just got to ignore the scratching and miaowing lol.0 -
It's getting dark and he's not home... trying to quell the rising feelings of worry and panic...
Edit: and no sooner had I said that than I bumped into him in the car park...0 -
