I'd definitely recommend a Feliway. Leave him the run of the house tonight but make sure he knows where the litter tray is."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

We've actually got a feliway, mum gave me one!
We've just got home from a meal out (thought he might want some time alone in the lounge to settle in) but the poor thing was terrified when we came back and is now back behind the TV, I don't think we should have left him... :-(
So should we leave the lounge door open when we go to bed or being as he's so nervous should we leave him in here with the door closed? His tray and food are in here...

Poor little thing is very scared and timid, unfortunately his chosen hiding place is behind the TV with all the wires :-/ but I don't want to be shooing him out and adding to his stress...
That's exactly where Jimmy went when we brought him home for the first time - he squeezed into the tiniest gap imaginable.
He will be fine. Get some Dreamies, they are like cat crack.0 -
leave the door open where you are happy for him to explore during the night.
you could put the cat igloo behind the tv so he has somewhere to go to.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500 -
Leave everywhere open, you may find a furry sleeping companion later on. Ours shot to under the stairs when she was brought home. It is where I store all the gardening stuff and some boxes out of the car. She came out a couple of hours alter.
I would say he has been having a good nosey around, whilst you have gone, but freaked out a bit, when you came back.
He will be different tomorrow, don't worry. Just leave food, water out and the litter tray, but be prepared for a possible accident through the night from him.
Also I thought she had done a big No 2 on the front door rug the following morning, but found out when I picked it up, it was 3 huge furballs ! She had been cleaning herself and the 6 kittens whilst in the rehomers. If you find something long, grey ish and quite hard, it is a furball0 -

You reminded me about something else Salem did.
Christmas 2012 my fiance's mom bought us a lovely brown sparkly rug , really nice and went well in our living room.
One Sunday morning a few months back we went in the living room and on our lovely rug a big pile of sloppy cat poo (He had a bad stomach i think at the time)
We chucked it away , it's stuck in our outside cupboard at the moment. Who can imagine what has become of it :eek:INACTIVE ACCOUNT0 -

Wohooooooooooooooooooooooo - Derek is home
Perhaps he is hiding from the pink GIRLY cat carrier?
He is a boy, right

Haha it's manly purple!!!
Ok so this morning he was on the landing outside the bedroom. Soon as he saw us however it was back downstairs to his hidey hole behind the tv!
But he has used his litter tray which is good.
I'm still a bit confused about the litter tray. When he's 'been', what am I meant to do? Just scoop up his leavings and flush them down the loo?? What about the patches where he's done a number 1..?
The litter we've got is catsan non clumping if that helps...0
