30cm wide and 2+ metres tall? we almost got one up to the worktop height and even that seemed a waste of space!0

thanks everyone for your comments so far and am glad it is helping others too.
Where do people put bread items and vegetables in their kitchens?would never cook a meal in the microwave, just use it for heating stuff up. The main reason for choosing a combi would be that it means we have two ovens./QUOTE] It might be helpful if you want it for this or for grilling something whilst the oven is on, maybe worth really looking at the size of them mine has a turntable as it is freestanding don't think the built in ones have this.0 -
We had our kitchen fitted last November, the items we use that we never had are a Siemens fitted Coffee machine and we had deep drawers instead of cupboards0

My only regret in my recently fitted new kitchen is going for a matt worktop for a change. It shows absolutely every crumb & streak & I intend having it replaced eventually,I just want to feel I've got my money's worth out of it first.
Surprised at what you say about the matt work top as I am really pleased with mine. Hardly shows marks at all .0 -
Best thing I've put in the kitchen is a piece of lower level worktop. Instead of all worktop at 900mm high,I put in one piece at700mm, a meter length over a draw unit with one deep pan drawer with two small drawers over. I used to make these up myself as they never seemed to be available. My wife ,being 5'4" finds this invaluable for pastry/cake mixing etc and it gives a much better look to a kitchen than huge lengths of worktop.Have done this with laminate worktop and with Granite having had 16 houses in the last 25 years!!!0

Very interested by your comment, we were led to believe that Siemens was higher end Neff, initially we were looking at Miele but if we go for a steam combi that alone is £3k because you have to go for the top model which we didn't want to do.
I really want a pyrolitic oven as with my RA it is something I find hard to do and the Neffs we saw had gone down the sliding door route (great idea) but you can't get pyrolitic in it. The Siemens (not sure if it is better or not) use a fan system where it sucks air away from the door rather than using a fan to push towards it which also saves the door getting so dirty.
In our old brand new house we had a neff oven which was quite good, the gas hob wasn't that great and the dishwasher in our current house an Indesit cleans miles better than the neff dishwasher that we paid to be installed. Maybe they have improved and I think they do different levels so maybe the builder chose the basic models?
At the end of the day we want models that work, are reliable not show how much we have or haven't spent so please don't think I am a badge snob, I love baking cakes and I know Neff are always used on baking shows. Any feedback gratefully received

Have moved into a house with Siemens appliances and not overly impressed, though I think they're fairly old.
I hate the microwave combi oven and wish it was just a standard double oven (without microwave). With the top oven (combi), if you open the door, it turns off (like a microwave). If you open the door to check on your dinner you then have to turn it back on and set it to the right oven temperature again! It's insane. Checked the instruction book and there's no way around it.
One tip from my mum who had her kitchen done recently. If you want an eye-level oven, kitchen designers will always try and put it at the end of a run of units, not halfway along a wall with worktop either side, because they think it looks untidy. However, she forced them to put her oven halfway along a run so it's nearer the hob. In our kitchen, the oven is about 15' from the hob and right next to a door. Less than ideal.0
