I have to agree, the spudnik potato masher is RUBBISH!! however i have my eye on the potato ricer, but it's £10, is it worth it?

Hi Jessie - I've got the ricer and I have to say I rarely use it because it's so much trouble to spoon the potato into it bit by bit, compared to blasting it all in the pan with the hand-held electric whisk. I do however use it for making German Spätzle noodles which are yummy. Julia x

Poodlehorse - I loved the fizz keeper too but mine broke after about three months so not very happy!

I love the adjustable square cake tin. I've only had it a week and it's fab.

My silly buy was the can crusher....why did I bother when my husband can use his size 12 feet? Hardly ever use it!

I too bought a spudnik, its ok, but I use the kenwood chef now instead, tried the potato ricer once and it was too much fuss.

Bought the cooks candle recently and use it quite a bit, I know what you mean about the adjust a slice, OH takes the guide bit out, but I don't mind it.

Used to love their nil glass until they changed it.
  • I've had a ricer for years. NO lumps in mash anymore. Try good cookshops for a cheaper one.
We are all swans. Serene on top- but paddling like fury underneath.:smileyhea
  • Best stuff - Jam pan, lock & lock, silverwood adjustable size cake tin, wasp catcher, compost crock, dryer balls, banana tree, bread maker, kenwood slicer, microwave steamer, diablo toastie maker, evenslice bread slicer, silicone pastry brushes, egg-perfect, oil spray.

Not so good - over door ironing hooks (my doors are too chunky), hose minder (snapped - the hose must be too heavy!), tap adapta (didn't fit), sockies (decided I'd rather pair up clean socks than dirty, smelly ones), burger press (sorry to all you burger press fans, I found it easier to do it by hand), rubber glove holders (since been discontinued, unsurprisingly).

I love lakeland, can you tell?!
I like cooking with wine......sometimes I even put it in the food!

I luuuuuurve my Remoska, my Good Grips washing up brush, and elongated measuring spoons that fit inside spice jars.

I have bought lots from Lakeland in the past, and TBH loved it all!

My best is the adjust the slice! Fantastic, the kids and my visually impaired husband can use it, putting an end to bread hacking

How do you cut the bottom bit?

I tilt the knife slightly and use the point ( I had to go in the kitchen and do it  always do it automatically) to cut the last bit or move the loaf to the edge of the cutting board (mine is a thick wooden one) so that the attachment of the knife doesn't hit the board, IYSWIM.

I recently bought the heart shaped pastry press (I know, I know!) fun to use and I enjoyed making heart shaped gooseberry pies for my boyfriend, however you can hardly fit any filling in them and the pie press doesn't work terribly well. Still, made me smile.

Juliapenguin, can you post your spatzle (sp?) receipe? I had them in Austria and I love them!

  • I bought the tinfoil and cling film dispensers just after Christmas. They are terrific and take pride of place on the kitchen wall. Highly recommended. My friends are amazed when they see them in action.
