  • One of the best things I ever bought from Lakeland was a wicker basket which slots onto the stairs. It is invaluable for tidying up the downstairs in a hurry and means that I can carry all the kids [STRIKE]crap[/STRIKE] bits and pieces up at once without dropping things.

Compost Crock carbon filters £3.99 for 10 - To fit the Lakeland compost crock - a white ceramic pot that sits on the worktop looking pretty and storing peelings etc until the rain stops long enough to put it out on the compost heap....;) The filters last 3-4 months so although it seems ridiculous buying these little filters that look like I could make my own from a roll of cooker hood filter, I just can't be bothered. TBH The crock pot looks nice but a plastic bin would be more useful... but I've had it ages now and the filters do mean that I can leave veg/egg shells/teabags etc overnight (or for a few days...) before putting out to the compost bin without causing an icky smell :o

I have the peely bin from Lakeland and that does not need filters and I just love it!!! It's big enough to take all the recycling stuff and unless you leave it for days and days (did that when we went on holiday - yikes!) there isn't really any smell from it. The white pot does look nicer than the peely bin though!

I am going up to the Lakes at the weekend.....I suppose I could always stop off at the store for a cuppa...and a browse....and buy some things that might not be in stock at my local branch. :T
My second favorite household chore is ironing. My first being, hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint.

Oooo....love Lakeland and will try the foil and loaf liners now. Had never had a look at Kleeneze or Betterware but will next time I'm online, are they like Lakeland only cheaper? Are the products a cheaper quality?

I'm not sure that kleeneze or betterware are cheaper. Kleeneze focuses more on cleaning products, but both sell similar, though more limited ranges than Lakeland. Also Lakeland primarily sell from shops or online, but the other two rely on door to door distributors in the main.

I have one or two betterware things that can't be bought elswhere (to my knowledge) - I enjoy looking at the catalogues but I'm never at home when the distributors call so I only ever order via my mum's distributor for odd little purchases. :)

I bought the pineapple corksrew corer thingy and whilst it does only slice up pineapples it does mean that they are a realistic option when they are a good price at the supermarket rather than making them a whole song and dance. Also if you are in a summery mood you can fill the cored pineapple with rum punch and put an umbrella in the top.
Oh dear, I think the weather has got to me! :)

I've just been recommended to the Lakeland catalogue and it came with a £5 voucher (which you can take to the shop to use , so save on postage too). I think the person that recommended me got a £10 voucher for recommending three people. Will be off to Lakeland now!!

Last time I sent an order through to Lakeland they gave me 3 freebies because I had ordered so much!

Their customer service is second to none, they are so helpful and happy and I love their stuff. They can look a bit expensive, but it is a little like Marks & Spencer - you get what you pay for. So you do get your money's worth every time.

It isn't just the customer service through mail order either. I was in their shop in York and we pointed out that they had given us too much change (by about £10 or something) and they gave us a free tin of biscuits to say thank you for being honest.

    Love 'em!
    Always another chapter

my worst, well most useless has to be the pasty makers, put the pastry on the gadget, add filling, fold one side over the other, voila! perfect pasty ... wrong! filling falls out, pastry doesn't stick, gadget & food goes in bin
I notice they don't seem to sell them any more

best & most used, among many other good things, has to be Hook Ups
they've saved me so many hours of ironing

Got my eye on the good grips mandolin slicer, very tempted but it's £50
watch out for that one, it's gets very mixed reviews on Amazon.com, but if you really want one, & it's cheaper from Amazon.co.uk although it does have a 4-6 week delivery time

love my Good Grips peeler, masher, can opener etc though :)

Hi Jessie - I've got the ricer and I have to say I rarely use it because it's so much trouble to spoon the potato into it bit by bit, compared to blasting it all in the pan with the hand-held electric whisk. I do however use it for making German Spätzle noodles which are yummy. Julia x
Please could I have the recipe too? We ask our DIL to bring packets back every time she visits her home in Germany - it'd be great to try HM.

Back to thread - I like the lock & lock containers and the hangers for tea towels, etc. , also the clippits. Worst has to be the thing for cleaning venetian blinds - makes no impression on mine at all!
