It's a bit naff. I've got a Betterware version and as had been said it's a lot of faff to get the crisps thin enough then to soak to get the starch out, then to microwave, salt/flavour etc. I've never used one for vegetable crisps but not sure if they would be any easier (parsnip/beetroot etc that you get in posh packets).

I certainly wouldn't be paying £7.99 for a bit of plastic (just lay them down on a plate instead) - I think mine was £1.99 albeit a few years ago now.

I bought one last month after OH saw an article about it in The Mail. Used it once. Not impressed. I ended up throwing most of the "crisps" away. It took a lot longer than it said in the instructions to cook them. I was contemplating returning it to Lakeland but keep convincing myself I'll give it another go (which hasn't happened yet!).
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

I really wouldnt bother with this, £7.99 buys a lot of crisps.

When my kids were small i have used my potato peelerand just fried them, more calories but nice, this was in the days when I bought potatos in a 56lbs bag for about 2.00 and didnt have money for crisps

The £7.99 does include the cost of the mandolin style slicer which will allow you to get wafer thin slices very quickly
  • I bought a similar product but from E*ay for about £3.00 including P & P.

I have used it a few times and flavoured them with paprika. I found that sometimes it was a fine line between them being underdone and inedible and if they get too crispy and brown then you couldn't get them out of the rack without them breaking into bits.

agree, fortunately mine cost 50p from a car boot sale but it's a lot of effort for a very small quantity of crisps. If you don't cut them evenly then they can get stuck in the grooves and break into pieces when you try to get them out.

If you are looking for cheap low-fat snacks have you considered popping your own popcorn. There is an air popper (no need for oil) on sale in comet at the moment for £9.99 and corn is really cheap.

Lakeland used to sell sockies but they don't any longer, does anyone know where I can get them from now?

Also Lakeland used to sell two magnets one had details of what symbols meant on washing machines whilst the other had details of what symbols meant on tumble dryers. My washing machine broke at the beginning of the year and when it was left with the repair man he informed us over a month later that it wasn't repairable. Hubby was supposed to go and get the magnet back but he forgot and I would imagine the machine has been disposed of a long time ago. Does anyone know where I can get another one of these magnets?

    I hope this makes sense!

Are they little things which you attach socks to so you can put them in the WM? If so I bought some in Wilkinsons a couple of weeks ago. I keep forgetting to use them :o
