Hi everyone. I'm just coming to this thread quite late as I've just bought one of these things. Can anyone who already has a Lakeland dryer advise me - it works better when you cover it with something apparently, but I don't possess a double duvet cover (on our bed have always used two single duvets and covers, avoids arguments about who is kicking off the duvet!). Is a standard double duvet cover big enough, as the thing is pretty big? Would buy a cheap one if this is so. And does it work best when you layer stuff on the shelves? Am still trying to find my way round it and want to give it to my son to take to his uni house as his bedroom there is quite big and I think he'll find it very useful.

    Thanks for any advice.
Ive got the smaller one, think there is a large taller version. I do find it dries quicker for sheets etc if you do cover them over in a tent like fashion but you can use anything really, even a towel over the top helps keep the heat and working. I dry my double sheets over the top so in theory two single sheets each side would work just as well. Or a fleese type blanket over the top.

I live in tiny flat with no outside space so its great for drying faster than just a rack when you dont want items on the rads. Things do dry quicker if you open the shelves flat instead of drying over each rung but depends on how much stuff you have. Drying flat is great for heavy jumpers that take ages to dry and need to be dried quickly.

  • So this is not so thrifty now, but will be in a few years!

I persuaded my husband to come with me to Lakeland at Nantwich, and I was very restrained I only spent £18! We went specifically for an Apple Master peeler, as Lakeland sell them the cheapest (and online say they out of stock till 17 October)

I "need" one of these £15 peelers due to the fact we have 4 apple trees in the back garden and we all love apple pie, upside down cake etc.

Anyway I can't tell you how chuffed I am with the peeler, took a little setting up to get it to peel just right, and I have managed to take a chunk out of my hand due to the peeling bits being quite sharp and I was careless :rotfl:. Quite looking forward to getting those apples off the trees now and into my freezer!!!

I saw this on Stephen Fry's gadget programme and though it was brilliant. I think I will be getting one too, I am a sucker for a gadget. :)

These also work really well with pears put the 'fat' end on the prongs :D

and if you have a dehydrator you can dry the peelings and powder to add flavour to sponges etc
