I bought a Funky Trundle for carting a heavy musical instrument across town to rehearsal every week. One of the clips which holds the folding sides out went missing. (bumpy pavement I suppose) so I asked at the shop if I could order a new clip - although it does work without it, it's not as stable.

A few days later, I got a phone call to say the manufacturer doesn't make the clips separately but I could have the clips from their sample (Free:j) if I liked to call in and collect them.

    Now that is customer service...........

oh I haven't seen this thread in ages :) & I've remembered a few of other favourites

jar busters, long thin flexible spatulas great for spreading & mixing, scrape the very last drop from a jar & get right to the bottom of those unnecessarily tall ones  some manufacturers seem so fond of ... also good for impasto painting :D
    Professional washing up brushes
    magic hob liners

Klippits (although they've changed since the orignal ones which were better)
I agree with you, I bought some new ones recently to replace lost ones, & they're not nearly as good as my 20-odd year old ones
the bit that 'klips', ifykwim, is just a little prong in the middle now, it doesn't go all the way across & makes them much fiddlier to use, they also seem less flexible & flimsier too
I might just drop them a line

my worst, well most useless has to be the pasty makers, put the pastry on the gadget, add filling, fold one side over the other, voila! perfect pasty ... wrong! filling falls out, pastry doesn't stick, gadget & food goes in bin
I notice they don't seem to sell them any more
    I love my pasty maker!!

(You have to wet the edges of the pastry otherwise it won't stick together!);)
I do know about wetting the edges of pastry, but it still didn't work as well as I expected it to & was more trouble than it was worth, a lot easier & more versatile doing it the gadget-free way, imho ;)
I was so annoyed with the thing I binned it before thinking of asking for a refund

Julian Graves do a soft liquorice, but I'm not sure of the flavours. Might be worth a look though.

I bought some of that and it had a horrid "burnt" taste (and I love liquorice :p )

  • I ordered some stuff for presents at christmas, one being the fire cones. They went out of stock just after i bought them so they wern't in my parcel. A couple of weeks later, i hadnt heard anything so i emailed. They were VERY apologetic and said i wouldnt get them before christmas. Funnily enough, 2 days before christmas they sent them by courier on next day delivery. Fair to say i was very happy.

I love lakelands products and service. I dont mind paying more when i know i will get good service. And i could not live without their oven cleaner. Its amazing!
  • I'm another fan of the oven cleaner it's amazing.Good for the burners on the hob too.
I can't do without the stuff you use for greasing your cake pans with that's brilliant too.
As for the licorice,I'm totally addicted to the ginger one.I just can't put it away once I open a packet.End up having to hide it from myself.

Poundland have some - only the ordinary flavour :)
  • Lakeland can be a bit expensive - especially as it is very tempting to buy something you need then browse through the catalogue/website finding things which look like they will be very useful but which will sit gathering dust on a high shelf…. I have more "useful" gadgets than I care to think about! I am extremely impressed with Lakeland's customer services and returns policy though. I bought a food sealer from them a couple of years ago (an electronic device for sucking air out of plastic bags and then sealing them up) to replace a cheaper model I had had for a few years. The main purpose for me was when I bulk buy meat, etc, to split it up and freeze it in smaller portions. The device was rubbish - it would appear to create a good seal on the meat, but as soon as the meat had frozen the bags had reflated allowing air in and causing freezer burn. I contacted them after a couple of months and they said I could return it, but I didn't do anything for a year. When I contacted them after I had had the device for a year, they let me return it with no quibbles for a full refund. I didn't even have to pay for postage.

Have bought lots of items from Lakeland over the years and have now learned to avoid the gimicky products. Favourite purchases have been the jam funnel, a cheap long plastic scraper which gets the last scrap of jam or cake mixture out of a container and the seal seal ziplock bags which I use endlessly and rewash for storing both liquids and solids in the freezer.
Completely agree about the useless banana snack holder and ripening tree.
