Samba Mobile Closing Down

I must admit I was surprised that Samba folded, as unlike Ovivo you had to watch (or leave running in the background) the ads.
I suspect that Three decided that they are no longer going to be the bargain network as they have a big enough user base. No insider knowledge but going on how they changed their 24 month phone contracts to limit tethering to 2GB per month.
Samba tied me over whilst I was between broadband suppliers, left Virgin last January because they were charging me around £30 per month for 10Mb and a phoneline that I never used.
Then last July Three dropped the SIM only one plan to £15 per month well I was struggling on the number of adverts on Samba and my mobile contract was nearly up and a little more than that so I early upgraded. Unfortunately they've increased the price to £23 for the 30 day and £20 for 12 months for SIM only one plans.
Best thing I ever did, unlimited internet with unlimited tethering, connect all my devices via wifi hotspot and can run them when I'm out and about. Regularly get over 10Mb and when I've been in 4g coverage seen 40Mb.0 -
Which partner companies would those be? Is there a list?
The TextMe and Upptalk VoIP and messaging applications.
These earn credit for calls and texts from viewing adverts from 2 or 3 supplying channels, or installing certain other applications (mostly marketing or games) or Upptalk also earns credit for incoming sms and calls.0 -
When Samba went, I followed the advice on here and went to Currys to get a £1.99 SIM for a Three 1Gb preload. Three weeks ago the price had gone up to £3.99.
I am running out of allowance so I went back to Currys today. The price is now £7.99 so I left without a SIM because I can get GiffGaff cheaper than that. However, I still think £7.50 for a Gb is too much. Any current non-contract mobile broadband offers boardists can recommend?
I should mention I use the SIM card in my dongle. Many thanks.0 -
Check HUKD. How about EE 200MB for 1p?
I searched for 'preloaded':

Above deal would have been nice but no longer available. Anyone else know anything else?
Thanks.0 -
You are late. It was available yesterday when I posted the link.
I see 2Gb for £7.50 on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EE-2GB-Pre-Loaded-4G-Data-Comb-SIM-Std-Micro-Pay-as-you-go-Mobile-Broadband-/271476208924?pt=UK_Mobile_Home_Phones_Sim_Cards_CV&hash=item3f353e351c0
