Samba Mobile Closing Down

It might get blocked then. They can tell if its not a phone somehow but maybe worth a try. It may last an hour or six months! If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0

Firstly Curry's system has only been able to let you buy 2 but I managed to get 4 by buying 2 for home delivery and 2 on pay and collect. When I looked last night (and just) neither of these options were available as post-Samba demise they have probably now sold out. I suspect when they restock they wont be on offer at £2.99 but back up to £4.99.
Secondly they can be used IN tablets that have a Sim 3G socket but your laptop will need either a Wi-Fi Dongle or a Mi-Fi wireless device both of which are widely available for less than £30. Unless they are branded by Three you will have to get them unlocked (99p off a reputable Flea-bayer). That wouldnt be a bad idea anyway because then you could use any networks sim in them.
All my local Currys appear to be sold out as well. I won't be needing mobile broadband again until September, hopefully something turns up during the summer. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.
My laptop does have an internal 3G card that's unlocked, I've been using it with Samba without a problem. I assume any sim card that's advertised as working with a 3G dongle/tablet would work (I believe that's what the Samba sim was advertised for)?0 -
I didn't know you could get laptops with mobile Sim sockets built in..very useful. I got the 3G nexus as most places I go in the sticks never have WiFi.If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0

I didn't know you could get laptops with mobile Sim sockets built in..very useful and yes, unlocked any network sim should work.. Just watch out for coverage. Personally for me where I go O2/giffgaff is nonexistent. Samba is gone. Along with it went the 22 Gb that I earned

But the Samba battery is still there saying that 0 KB is available
I am using Win 7 and Firefox. How do I get rid of this painful reminder ?!0 -

Ponzi scheme, I really find their behavior aggravating.
They clearly relied on the majority not using cashing in their data allowance but saving it for later. They would give data to the minority that cashed it in to encourage the rest of us suckers who saved our data and then when it came time to actually give us the data they ran away with the profits. They didn't go bust they just rant away. All this " we had to buy the data in advance" clearly they did not or it would be there.
I paid a pound and watched about 5 hours of adverts over two months for 1.5gb and then received zilch as they ran away with the money from my advert watching.
It strikes me as quite literally a fraudulent way to do business.

Fortunately I got my first Sim for half price on an MSE offer and my second one for nothing as I referred my wife and she paid £2.50 and I got it back as a referral fee. I'm not sure if it should have only been 1 per household but yeh ho!
I built up about a couple of gig of data for my tablet and mi-fi Sims as a buffer but topped up what I used until towards the end when the lack of adverts spelt Sambas demise and I was using it faster than I could top it up.
Sad really as there isn't another source of non-expiring data that I know of. There is a niche for such a product for people who have infrequent data requirements such as caravaners a lot of whom also got caught by Vodafone withdrawing it's non-expiring dongles.
....But why sell non expiring data when you can force people to pay for something every month regardless of whether they use it or not.If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0 -
I agree there us something rather odd about apparently deciding to just renege on promises to customers because they feel like it
They are still serving adverts to customers of other partner companies.0
