Too many house price crash threads...

Now most of the regular contributers here know i like an HPC discussion as much as the next person (indeed I am a regular contributer to https://www.globalhousepricecrash.com where bulls, bears & those undecided can discuss topics related freely & openly without censoring ;))

However, this board has been rather taken over by HPC threads, I worry that those who come here for advice might get put off by the overwhelming number of threads on the subject - drowning out the pleas for assistance from people getting messed about by their landlords or tenants.

So can we perhaps have a moratorium's on new HPC threads, perhaps if you see one on the front page, don't start a new thread until that one has fallen away, so we can make space for the genuine requests for help.
"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.

Trouble is, a lot of other threads degenerate into a 'prices are too high'/'you just missed the boat green eyed fool' slanging match (e.g. 'What's going to happen to i/r?', 'What's the best way to BTL?', 'I want to take out a mortgage of 50x my income, am I crazy?' etc).

I do agree with you though. Perhaps some sort of autodelete function could be set up for anyone using phrases like "price bubble" or "prices never fall".

PS I do confess I'm as bad as the next man. Esp if the next man is pretty bad.

If a thread contains the word 'crash' then don't read it, simple as that.

However, I think the fact that there a so many threads on the subject, signals a real change in sentiment - and as we know... sentiment is everything. ;-)

It's not a question of whether I enjoy debating the subject - I do. My point is that this isn't necessarily the best place to debate or at least we really shouldn't flood the board with threads on the subject - I worry that we put off people genuinely in need of advice.

At the risk of getting dragged in to another HPC thread - we don't know if sentiment is changing. Check who's posting it's the same people every thread - that's not a gauge of sentiment.

Anyone else receive a PM from gordon guyz? lol :j
  • Perhaps a Housing Market Sentiment sticky thread would be a good idea, and mods, as they have time, can move/merge any stray threads into it as needed?

Except this board is about to be about house buying, renting, selling and prices.

Exactly. That's why crash / correction threads are perfectly appropriate.

However, I agree that it's getting really boring seeing the same topics again and again. Maybe 1 sticky house price crash thread would keep things tidier?

I thought it signalled an influx of attention deficients unable to use a search function but hey ho.
